The following students and teacher were recognized in April for their dedication and excellence in education during the annual Northern Kentucky Excellence in Education Dinner & Awards Celebration put on by the Northern Kentucky Education Council. Congratulations!

Golden Apple Award teacher award: Carol Basinger of New Haven Elementary School (2nd year in a row that New Haven has had a Golden Apple teacher, congratulations also goes to Principal Mary Goble.)
Champion for Education: The Champion for Education Award recognizes individuals, businesses, community members or school board members who have demonstrated ongoing dedication to the success of students and the betterment of education in Northern Kentucky. That award went to our very own Karen Byrd who has served for 27 years on the school board.

Rotary Club Teachers of the Year - Heather Bloemer and Tasha Lovins from Ryle High School
The Florence Rotary Club recognized two Boone County School District teachers as Teacher of the Year recipients this week. Each teacher received a $500 check from Heritage Bank to donate to an education charity of their choice, a banner to hang at their school, a citation from the KY Senate presented by Senator Schickel, a Boone County proclamation from Boone County Judge Executive Gary More naming Monday April 22nd as those teacher’s day and the Kentucky Colonel Award signed by Governor Beshear. Congratulations to Ryle High School teachers Heather Bloemer and Tasha Lovins! Ms. Bloemer's charity is the Ryle Special Education Department and Ms. Lovins charity is Ryle High School Athletics.
