Approve Emergency Certifications
Our district is committed to employing the best qualified substitute teachers available. All substitute teacher applicants do not hold Kentucky teaching certificates. Therefore, the Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness Division of Certification provides an emergency Substitute Certificate for those individuals. We have utilized this emergency certification process for many years. Mrs. Derisa Hindle is requesting approval for Emergency Substitute Teaching Certifications for substitutes for the 2025-2026 school year.

Approve Appointees to the 25-26 District Certified Evaluation Appeals Committee
The state regulation on the evaluation of certified personnel, KRS 156.557 and 704 KAR 3:345 require the local board of education to appoint its representatives to the Local Evaluation Appeals Panel.
As part of our district's evaluation process, an Evaluation Appeals Panel is established each year. This is an important element in the evaluation process; it ensures that evaluation process and guidelines have been followed, and it provides a process to ascertain whether an employee has been fairly evaluated in his/her summative evaluation.
The Evaluation Appeals Panel is made up of three members - all certified staff members. Two members of the three-member team are elected by the certified staff members in the district. The third member is appointed by the Board of Education.
The certified staff members have selected the following to serve on the panel for this school year:

The Board of Education is required to appoint the third member of the panel and an alternate. Mr. Paul M. Mullins would like to recommend Cain Alvey, Director of Special Programs, to serve as the Appeals Panel member and Travis Gay, Director of Student Services, to serve as the alternate.

Department Update - Communications
Chuck Jones
Mr. Chuck Jones gave a brief presentation of statistics for the Communication Departments on Social Media and offered to answer questions. Ms. Iman commented that the stories he's been posting to the website have been great. Mr. Mullins said he appreciated the work that Mr. Jones has done.

Construction Update - TKS Renovation
Dalton Jackson and Greg Hosfield
Mr. Hosfeld from Ross Tarrant Architects gave an update to the Board of the T.K. Stone Renovation Project. Mr. Mullins said HVAC project actually goes into Morningside benefiting some of those classrooms.

Mr. Mullins asked Ms. Goodman and Mr. Howell about their students experience attending the KEDC AI experience that took place the last couple of weeks. Mr. Howell said it was an outstanding experience for the students with some simulators and robots. Ms. Goodman said the teachers spoke about how organized it was and how much the students enjoyed it. Mr. Howell thanked Mr. Gay and Ms. Kim Jones for their organization of busses. Mr. Mullins thanked Mr. Henderson for providing space at the high school for this to take place.
