Reports
7.A.
Student Board Representative
Danielle Hubbard
Danielle noted that we had 5 more students become college ready in the past 2 weeks and we now have 17 total. Also, the seniors have received 140 college acceptant letters and over $1 million in scholarships. Lastly, she mentioned that the seniors have bought all the gifts for the LES students for their Senior Service project.
7.B.
DHS Principal's Report
Jeremy Dodd
Mr. Dodd mentioned the recent School Safety report for DMS/DHS found that every student interviewed said they have an adult they trust and can go to at school. The main issues on the report were structural, such as fixing some of the locks on the doors.
7.C.
LES Principal's Report
Greg Duty
Mr. Duty also discussed the recent Safe School report for LES, which was similar to that of the High School. Every student interviewed reported they have an advocate in the building for them. One of the main issues was that there are 4 different keys needed to get into different doors at LES and it would be better to have one universal key.
Mr. Duty also noted that the holiday help has been great this year with General Electric sponsoring a whole grade, gifts from the Senior Service project, and all the hard work that Gina Byrd has put in to help our students. Lastly, he mentioned that LES students have currently read 8,619 books and they have increased their overall goal to 20,000 books.
