ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                              JACOB PIRTLE

The EHS Student of the Month for October is Jake Pirtle.  Jake is a senior who is the definition of the model student – integrity, high morals & values and respect for self and others is an example anyone can follow.  At EHS, Jake has been a member of the Cross Country Team (9th-11th grade), a member of the Baseball Team (9th -12th grade) and serves as a peer tutor in the FMD classroom this year.  Jake has the ability to brighten a room with his smile, as well as , bring a smile to your face with his quick wit and spunky personality.

Hera are some comments from Jake’s teachers:

Coach Pitts:  “Jake is a very enthusiastic student.  He is well liked and respected by his classmates and teachers.  As his coach, I know through his hard work that he has gained the respect of coaches and other players.  Jake is a tremendous teammate that has been a big part of the success that EHS baseball has had the past few seasons.”

Ms. Haire: “Jake is a fabulous peer tutor.  He goes above and beyond what is asked of him in my classroom.  Jake always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude.  He interacts with the students not only in the classroom but also when he sees them in the hallways.  The kids really enjoy having him around.!”

Mr. Todd:  “Jake has an engaging/fun-loving personality.  He never seems to have a bad day, which is rare for a high school student.  He seems to love his school and classmates.  Jake is a quality young man.”

EHS is proud to recognize Jake Pirtle as the October Student of the Month

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                       HEATHER MOONEY

Heather Mooney is an admirable 8th grade student at T.K.Stone Middle School.  She is a role model for her peers and always shows respect toward teachers and staff.

One of her teachers says:  “Every time I pass Heather in the hallways she has this big smile and a warm greeting.  I have watched her for two years walk out her positive values that I believe have been instilled into her by her parents.  She is confident and secure in who she was created to be.  I have not seen her succumb to peer-pressure.  She speaks out against anything she deems is unjust.  She hs a high regard for education.  She constantly inquires about having all the materials she needs to succeed.  I have to joke with her to “relax” and she always demonstrates all positive characteristics of P.A.W.S.”

Heather is very deserving of this recognition, and it is our honor to name Heather Mooney as the October Student of the Month for T.K. Stone Middle School.

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY                     OLIVIA WRIGHT

Misti Craig has this to say about Olivia Wright

I feel blessed to have Olivia in my classroom this year.  She is a beautiful young lady inside and out and is a pleasure to teach.  Olivia is very bright and she is eager to learn and strives to do her best at all times.  Not only does she put forth her best effort, but she is also willing to help her classmates do their best.  Olivia is dependable and always agreeable to assist others if they need help with their work.  Olivia is a wonderful role-model who really lives by our MES Guidelines for Success.  She is well-liked by her classmates and they all want to be friends with her.  Olivia is a sweetheart and a joy to have in class.

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY      GABRIELLE BROWN

We are so excited to announce that Gabrielle Barnes Brown is the Student of the Month at Helmwood Heights Elementary.  Gabrielle is well-deserving of this award.  Out of nearly 80 students, she was chosen to represent our 4th grade classes.

Gabrielle is a daily role model of good character inside, as well as outside the classroom.  She follows the Guidelines for Success each and every day.  She shows respect for her teachers, her peers, and everyone at Helmwood.

Gabrielle is a reliable and quiet leader.  She does not draw attention to herself, yet goes out of her way to help others.  She leads others with a gentle smile and a polite attitude.

Her homework and class work are always turned in on time while giving 100% on each assignment.  She has learned to be organized while traveling between three different classrooms.  In each class, she is always prepared and exhibits a positive attitude.

Gabrielle is the perfect choice for Student of the Month at Helmwood Heights.  Congratulations, Gabrielle!

PANTHER ACADEMY                                      SYMONE HEADSPETH

Symone Headspeth is an amazing girl!  She is passionate about everything she does!!  She is a terrific student in every way.  She gives 100% in all areas and participates with enthusiasm, no matter what it is!  Her enthusiasm is truly contagious!  She loves her friends and is caring and kind to all.  She enjoys helping others and always makes an effort to include everyone.  Her smile and gregarious spirit are never ending each day!  She enjoys trying new things, and being extremely competitive gives her inner challenges, which she thrives on!  I appreciate her determination, Panther Pride, and respect for others.  She is truly a blessing and an asset to my classroom!......Paula Schubeler, Teacher.

PANTHER PLACE                                               JONATHAN BAILEY

This is Jonathan’s first year at Panther Place.  He is in Mrs. Cann’s 5th grade class at Helmwood Heights Elementary.  Our fifth grade teacher, Mr. Gaddis, nominated Jonathan stating that Jonathan sets a good example for the other students.  He is very responsible taking initiative to start and complete his homework, not waiting to be told what to do.  He stays on task every day.  Mr. Gaddis told me that Jonathan is also very helpful in the classroom.  He is always polite and respectful to both staff and fellow students.  These are reasons why we have also chosen Jonathan to be one of our tour guide for our "Lights on Afterschool" Open House on Thursday, October 22.  Jonathan told me that his favorite subject in school is science.  When he gets home, he enjoys playing Toblox on the computer.  Jonathan has certainly been a wonderful addition to the Panther Place program and we are proud to name him as our October Student of the Month.

IV.D. Recognition of Rex Hanson, Guidance Counselor at Elizabethtown High School
Rationale

Congratulations to Rex Hanson, Guidance Counselor at Elizabethtown High School for his induction into the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition's Hall of Fame.

In order to be inducted into the KAAC Hall of Fame, you must have accomplished at least one specific noteworthy achievement that furthers academic competition on a local, regional or statewide level.  Membership in the KAAC Hall of Fame is NOT a Years of Service honor.

Rex has been a part of KAAC for many years and he has demonstrated not only with the KAAC but also where ever he has been that he is willing to go "above and beyond" in order to provide a brighter future for Kentucky students.  Rex has provided trainings and guidance to many teachers that have been involved in academic competitions throughout the state of Kentucky.  He has tirelessly helped students and coaches be the best they can be and has provided great leadership in helping this association grow in strength and effectiveness.  This past year, Rex teamed up with Mr. Pearsall and Mrs. Lively in helping the EHS Academic Team to a Regional Championship and our Future Problem Solving Team to its first ever appearance in International Competition in Ames, Iowa.

Steve Smallwood wrote this..."In my own experience with Rex over the past year as a member of our staff, I have seen Rex provide great opportunities to our students and staff.  He has been instrumental in ensuring the success of our school and providing valuable information on items such as assessment, grade cam, infinite campus, and communication.  He is student centered and is always looking for ways to improve what we do as a school."
