IV. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL        ABBY RICH

The EHS student of the month for October is Abby Rich.  Abby is a FCA leader, President of the Student Council where she was the committee chair for Dance Blue, member of the Beta Club, Y-Club, Pep Club and FBLA and she is a member of the Lady Panther Soccer Team.  She spends time volunteering at Mission Hope for Kids and as an 8th grade small group leader at Southeast Christian Church.  Abby attended Girls State, participated in the APES (American Private Enterprise System) program, and was selected for the Lincoln Trail Youth Salute program.  Upon graduation, Abby plans to attend Georgetown College and major in Sports Administration.

Here are some comments from her teachers:

Ms. Thompson (English Teacher):  Abby Rich is just a gem! She embodies qualities of a great student. She’s attentive, committed to tasks, dedicated to learning more than just getting good grades. But Abby is also a really neat person. She is interesting. She’s great to talk to. Her classmates adore her. She’s funny and bubbly. She is a positive energy in my mornings every day, and I am so pleased that she has been given this honor.

Mrs. Pennington (Business Teacher):  Abby is a delight to have in class.  In her marketing position in First Panther Bank, she is creative, realistic, organized and is able to thoroughly plan our promotions.  She works well with the marketing team as well as the other students in the bank.  She is kind and helpful to everyone.  She offers thoughtful suggestions and asked questions to clarify information.  Abby is also a co-op student.  She makes sure her weekly journals and supervisor evaluations are turned in on time and has received excellent grades and comments since the beginning of her job.

Mrs. Dodson (Communications Teacher):  Abby is a delight.  She is very conscientious about every assignment and seems to genuinely enjoy learning.  She exudes enthusiasm and kindness.  I'm especially appreciative of her willingness to volunteer her insights and model her skills in class.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                       ADELINE ALDRIDGE

Adeline is an 8th grader at TKS.  She is on the Honor roll and very active in extracurricular activities.  She plays soccer for EHS and was voted Best Defensive Player this season.  She also plays travel soccer for the Flames and is a member of the volleyball team.  Athletics have been in her blood since she was small.  Her favorite class is Mr. Alvey’s where she helps to peer tutor kids with special needs.  She really enjoys getting to work with and help the kids.  Adeline is thinking about a possible career in the field of special education.  In her spare time, she enjoys running, watching the Gilmore Girls and/or cooking with her mom.  Chicken and waffles are her favorite).

Alvey

Adeline is a true leader in the classroom.  Students in Mr. Alvey’s class flock to her  when she walks in the door.  Each morning she greats all the students in my classroom individually, part of Adeline’s jon in peer tutoring is to assist in the delivery of instruction; she completes this task with fidelity and passion.  She adjusts her instruction and to meet the needs of each student and encourages them to continually do better.  I thoroughly enjoy watching Adeline interact with the students both academically and socially in my room.

Thorn

Adeline Aldridge demonstrates all the qualities you will find in the student of the month.  Adeline comes to class with a winning attitude and demonstrates positivity towards her teachers and peers.  She accepts responsibility for her actions and understands that through persistence and hard work she can achieve the goals she has set.  Finally, her polite, respectful manner is one that is contagious and can be seen transferred from her to those around her, making the room she is in a better place.  Adeline is a well-deserving student of the month.

Pearman

Adeline is one of the most respectful students I have this year.  Her dedication to her students is apparent based on the efforts I observe on a daily basis.  She is well deserving of this award.

Perry

Adeline is a wonderful student I enjoy having in class.  The one assignment that stands out to me was her “Genius Hour” – she talked about veterans and how she personalized it with her grandfather.  She wore his hate to school and brought his snake kit in to show the class.  Her presentation was so authentic and moving as she shared about the life of veterans.

Adeline is looking forward to attending EHS and is hoping for a starting position on the varsity soccer team next year.  After high school she wants to attend University of Kentucky to obtain a possible elementary or special education degree.  There is no doubt she will be successful at anything she chooses to do.  Congratulations to Adeline Aldridge our December Student of the Month.

PANTHER ACADEMY                                      CANTON WALLACE

Canton Wallace is the perfect choice for Panther Academy’s student of the month.  He is one of the kindest, generous and hardworking students I have ever had the privilege of working with.  He has an infectious smile and is always ready and willing to do any task that is put before him.

Canton really excels in creative thinking and working on science or stem projects.  We have completed several cooperative projects in our room from building gates for five pumpkins to three dimensional shapes to hiding places for turkeys.  Canton always works well with the other students in his group.  As I observed the class during these tasks I watched him listen to others ideas and also interject his own.  He was always kind and worked well with any and all partners he had.  I am sure being one of the youngest of 5 has helped him become the patient cooperative person he has become at such a young age.

I am not the only person that has observed Canton’s ability to work well with others.  When I spoke with some of the other students in class they were quick to tell me that he “shares the blocks when we build towers”.  They also said that “I like to play games and dinosaurs with him because he is very nice.”  One student that Canton sits with said, “He is very nice and helps me with my work”.  I know that adults can easily see the attributes in others but sometimes we do not realize how much children notice.  We take for granted that they are small and think they do not pay attention to their surroundings, but they most certainly do.  Children, especially kindergartners are brutally honest and soak in everything around them so; when multiple five year olds sing the praises of one of their peers that is a wonderful tribute to that child.

Canton is a wonderful example and role model to others and a very worthy recipient for the Student of the Month.  I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for such an extraordinary young man.  I feel very blessed to be able to be his teacher and work with him on a daily basis.

PANTHER PLACE                               ADARAN VOSS

Adaran is a 2nd grader attending Morningside elementary where he is in Mrs.Lewis’ class.  This is his first year at Panther Place.  Ms. Kaci nominated Adaran because he shows strong leadership qualities within the classroom.  She also wrote, “He is polite, hardworking and is a great friend to all.”

His classmates shared the Adaran is a good friend to everyone.  He is really, really smart.  He is a hard worker and always does a great job on all his homework and projects.  One classmate said that he always keeps the class laughing with his great sense of humor.

I spoke with Adaran about his interests and he said that he likes coming to Panther Place to be with all his friends and he likes helping his dad work on their house.  He also enjoys playing with his dog, King.

I have never heard Adaran complain about anything.  He is always courteous and respectful to everyone.  He is definitely a good example for all our other students and we are happy to name Adaran Panther Place’s student of the month for December.
