RECOGNITION OF GUESTS AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IV.A.
Students of the Month
ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL BRADY SWIFT
The EHS student of the month for December is Brady Swift. Brady is sensitive to others, a great team player and is well respected among peers and faculty. He is a serious student who has worked hard for his grades and class standing and not shied away from difficult courses. Never taking an easy route, he knows how to work hard and apply himself to the challenges before him in order to attain his goals. He is a solid, disciplined student. At EHS, Brady is a member of the baseball team, Spanish club and SADD club. Brady also spends time with his church youth group going on mission trips and participating in service projects such as Feeding America, St. Vincent de Paul and working with the elderly.
Here are some comments from Brady’s teachers:
Mrs. Barcenilla: “I have had Brady in class for two years, Spanish 3 and Spanish AP, and I have to say I love having him in class; he makes me laugh! Sometimes to study a foreign language can be really fun, sometimes not so much: subjunctive, new grammatical structures, and things that are boring but less dry, to find new twist to old rules, and especially to mispronounce words in such a funny way that the class forgets we are doing something really difficult. He is sweet, he is very polite, he is extremely intelligent, and I wish I had him another year to torture him by translating into Spanish sentences such as “If I had a brain I would learn Spanish”.”
Mrs. Black: “As and Anatomy student, Brady is always prepared for class, engaged in learning, and ready to be challenged. In biology class, at 14 years old, he demonstrated a vast amount of knowledge, not just in biological topics. After the Anatomy & Physiology field trip to the University of Louisville Medical School, Brady’s reflection paper focused on helping patients with an orthopedic injury. After touring the Frazier Rehab Center, Brady was impacted by the young child learning to walk again. Because of his leadership abilities, Brady will be responsible for recruiting donors and working with the Blood Unit during the donation process for the Community Service Project Red Cross Blood Drive. As you can see, he values people and demonstrates compassion towards others.”
Mr. Ernst: “Brady is a fantastic student and a first-rate young man. He is polite, respectful, and good natured, and is a valuable contributor to a positive learning environment. His presence in the classroom makes learning a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.”
Mrs. Pullen: “Brady is a peer tutor in my collaborative science class. He jumps right in to help those that don’t understand. I don’t know what I would have done without him. He is very patient with these students and actually does a great job breaking things down to their level.”
Mrs. Pennington: “Brady is a smart, independent thinker. He is well behaved in class and willingly helps his fellow students when asked. He makes valuable contributions during discussions and he is a great addition to my class.”
T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL ASHLEY CORRELL
It is with great pleasure we recommend Ashley Correll as the TKS December Student of the Month. Ashley is active in cheerleading and is a member of both the TKS and Elizabethtown High school cheer teams. She is also an avid participant in local theater. She has previously participated in school plays at TKS, Youth Theater of Hardin County, Hardin County Playhouse, and with Missoula, a traveling theater company.
Mrs. Frierson says of Ashley, “I have had the pleasure of knowing Ashley for three years because she has been a faithful member of the TKS Student Council. I watch her blossom from a shy sixth grade student to being a powerful force to be reckoned with in her eighth grade year by becoming the TKS Student Council President. I admire her tenacity and strength to be a well rounded student who is a part of her community theatre, our choir and an athletic cheerleader.”
Mrs. Steffy says “Ashley Correll always has a smile and a positive attitude. She is also a conscientious student and an outstanding young actor. Ashley is a model student and I wish I had many more students just like her.”
In addition to these traits, Ashley’s teachers and friends describe her an competent, outgoing, and friendly. We are grateful to have this opportunity to recommend Ashley Correll, a student who embodies the spirit of T.K. Stone Middle School, as the December Student of the Month.
HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ANNIE ADAMS
Mrs. Duff’s class is so proud that Annie has been selected as the December student of the month! Annie is a very special student to us, and she always tries to do her best! Read on to find out why Annie is a great choice for student of the month.
Annie is a wonderful friend. She helps others when they are hurt. Annie uses kind words and she shares with others. She stands up to others. Annie is an UP stander, not a bystander! When someone is sad, she helps them.
Annie is also a great student. She keeps her eyes on the speaker. That makes her a very good listener. She is respectful, cooperative, responsible, and she tries hard to always do her best! She is a very polite girl! Annie works to figure out problems without giving up. She writes all the time, and loves math! Mrs. Duff can always count on Annie to do the right thing. As you can see, Annie is the best choice for student of the month.
MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RYAN HALL
The fourth grade team is proud to nominate Ryan Hall as Morningside Elementary School’s December student of the month. Ryan is an outstanding student and exhibits that every day by the following our school’s guidelines for success. He is respectful, responsible, cooperative, and always does his best.
When asked to describe Ryan, Mrs. Billings stated that Ryan Hall is the type of student that is always trying to do the right thing. When he sees a situation that is not right, he doesn’t walk past it or ignore it. Instead, Ryan tries to fix it. This might be something as small as there is trash on the school floor that someone left and he stops to pick it up, or if someone needs a friend because he noticed they are sitting by themselves, he will join them. Ryan works hard in school to do the right thing academically also. He gives 110% when it comes to paying attention and completing assignments. Ryan is one GREAT kid and we wanted everyone to know how AWESOME he is.
In writing and Social Studies, Mrs. Jury shared that Ryan is always making good choices. He pays attention in class and gives 110% effort. Ryan is very polite, respectful, and encourages others to make the right choice as well. He is such a great student and a pleasure to have in class.
Mrs. Scott shared that Ryan always works hard in math class. When a problem proves to be difficult, Ryan rises to the challenge and perseveres in solving it. He is a student that she can always count on to do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
According to Mrs. Sympson, Ryan is a motivated reader and always puts fourth his best effort in class.
It is an honor to have Ryan represent the fourth grade class as Morningside’s December student of the month. We look forward to watching him grow and shine this year and love having him in our classrooms.
PANTHER ACADEMY HOWARD ALEXANDER
Howard Alexander truly exemplifies what a Panther should be. He is always kind, playing with friends whom others ignore. He always works his hardest, concentrating on his studies and finishing his projects, AND cleaning up after himself, which is a huge help in our classroom.
Howard sets a good example, following directions and controlling his boyish energy. Howard is also very thoughtful. He helps others tie their shoes, reminds them of classroom rules and procedures, and encouraging all of his friends to do their best.
But the best thing about Howard is his sweet smile and loving heart. He lights up our classroom, and everyone is glad to see him.
So, as you can see, Howard Alexander is a student who all other students should aspire to be like, and he is a true Panther.
PANTHER PLACE RAIVEN BRATCHER
Raiven comes to Panther Place from Ms. Hinton’s fourth grade class at Helmwood Heights Elementary. This is her second year attending Panther Place. She is a hard worker and always completes her homework. She takes care to do her bery best at every task given her. Raiven is very sweet and is always polite and respectful to both staff and fellow students. Ms. Smallwood, our fourth grade teacher, said that Raiven gets along well with her peers and is continually asking if she can help our in some way. I had a chat with Raiven and she shared that her favorite subject in school is math, that she would like to play soccer someday and that she loves all the fun activities at Panther Place. When not in school, she likes spending time with her family especially when she goes fishing with her dad and uncle. We are proud to name Raiven as Panther Place’s December student of the month.

Ms. Cora Wood, Director of Personnel is requesting that the Board of Education approve the revised job description(attached) for Lunchroom Monitors. The only change is that the staff members are now supervised by the Nutrition Service Managers.
