4.B. Athlete of the Month - Samantha Holaday
Rationale

Congratulations to our December Athlete of the Month - Samantha Holaday. Samantha is a captain of the varsity cheerleading squad and a captain of the girls' bowling team. Samantha is in her fourth year as a varsity cheerleader and her first year bowling. She stepped up to bowl this year to fill a need, despite bowling not being her favorite sport. Samantha spent time in the fall learning the fundamentals of bowling and practicing with her family and friends on the team. She has stepped up as a leader in bowling to help motivate the teams and individual bowlers. Samantha is also participating in Unified Bowling with a teammate. Their team finished 6th out of 28 teams in the last unified match.

Samantha is a straight-A student who attends Gateway and serves as a student aide in the office as well. She has helped organize files, prepare Devil Points for the staff, and even set up our Christmas tree in the lobby. Samantha is an excellent example of the character and dedication to DHS we want to model for our students, athletes, and community.

4.C. Artist of the Month - Carly Bickers
Rationale

Congratulations to our December 2021 artist of the month, Carly Bickers!

As a first-year band student, Carly has put in a great deal of work to become the best Clarinet player she can be. She has gone above and beyond the expectations set for her each week. She has continually improved her playing abilities and has helped the High School Band out for several different events this year voluntarily including playing the Jingle Bells at the Light Up Dayton event this past week. Carly has shown time and time again that she wants to be the best student, and musician she can be.
