ID Shield has been provided and/or made available to each person who was affected by the data breach.  ID Shield provides identity theft protection and the restoration for each person.

If the data breach does result in the misuse of information, the district will utilize our resources to assist the person or persons who have received damages.

Over the last few years there have been several data breaches in our country and state.  These data breaches have resulted in varying responses by companies in their efforts to provide a sense of security for the persons whose information had been compromised.

Final arrangements are being made with a third party to assess our circumstances and to provide a report to determine, as much possible, the likelihood that the data will result in the misuse of information.

Superintendent recommends that ID Shield be provided to each person, who was on the December 2017 special payroll, for one year, and then to reassess the circumstances in one year.

Policy and Procedures have been followed and complied with, and continue to be complied with, in efforts to determine if the data breach has resulted in or is likely to result in the misuse of personal information.

Further discussion involved the varying lengths of time to provide the identity theft protections to affected personnel.

9. School Safety
Discussion

As a measure to increase and enhance safety, Livingston County Schools began implementing wanding with handheld metal detectors and bag check stations at Livingston County Middle School and Livingston Central High School. These daily checks are an added layer of security for our students and staff. North Livingston Elementary and South Livingston Elementary will also begin a similar process, but less visible.

The safety of your children is the number one priority. Livingston County Schools and our law enforcement agencies are committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to work together as a community to refine our practices and to ensure that no child is fearful of attending school.

The superintendent will be recommending some adjustments for the proposed budget for FY19 to include funding that will increase the presence of school safety personnel in our schools.  Efforts and discussions have been ongoing with attempts to implement these changes as soon as possible.
