Last Day of School and Graduations

Approve the request to waive the February 10th snow day for students, keeping May 20th as the final day for students. KRS 158.070 requires that the student instructional year be a minimum of 1,062 hours that occur in no less than 170 days. All schools will exceed the 1,062 hours of instruction and this will create a final calendar with 173 instructional days for students. This would allow the board to leave graduation on May 20th. Staff will have 1.5 work days that will be completed and documented, for the completion of contracts, at the school level and reported to the Human Resources and Finance Departments.
Motion Passed: The Nelson County Board of Education approve the request to waive the February 10th snow day for students, keeping May 20th as the final day for students and setting graduation dates and times as listed below. The additional 1.5 days for staff members will be completed and documented, for the completion of contracts, at the school level and reported to the Human Resources and Finance Departments.
Graduation Dates: May 20th at 5:30 NCHS
May 20th at 7:30 TNHS passed with a motion by Mr. Larry Pate and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.
