This is a monthly agenda item used to keep the Board and Administration up to date on attendance and enrollment figures. This report contains the membership, chronic absenteeism percentage and percentage of attendance for students by grade, by school and compares to previous year’s monthly enrollment figures. This report is based on school months and not calendar months.

2026-2027 Salary Schedule

Informational Item:
The budget committee has recommended the salary schedule attached be adopted by the Covington Board of Education. The salary schedule includes a step increase for all employees up to step 27.
Green is addition, Red is deleted (for relocation elsewhere on the schedule, or no longer needed); Blue is relocated from another area.

FY27 Tentative Budget

This Tentative Budget Cycle is required by State Stature KRS 160.470. The Tentative Budget must be approved by the local school district and submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education by 5/30 of each year.
The budget committee has met since February 2026 creating the budget for FY2027.
The budget committee will be looking into how cost saving measures can be incorporated into the budget. At this time there are many unknowns related to the adoption of this budget. Once those unknowns become available, the budget will be amended and will be reflected in the Working Budget that is presented to the Board of Education in September of each year.

It is recommended that the Covington Board of Education approve entering into a construction contract with HGC Construction for the BG 26-347 LES Gym Roof Collapse Emergency Project.

It is recommended that the Covington Board of Education approve entering into an A&E contract with EMBOSS for the BG 26-347 LES Gym Roof Collapse Emergency Project.

BG 26-347 LES Gym Roof Collapse Emergency Project – BG1 Approval Request

Rationale:
It is recommended that the Covington Board of Education approve the BG1 for the LES Gym Roof Collapse Emergency Project.
BG 26-347 was not advertised for bid proposals, as it was formally designated an emergency project during the April 16, 2026, BOE meeting. This BG1 has been updated to reflect current construction costs and associated fees.
The scope of this emergency project includes the necessary assessment, stabilization, demolition, and reconstruction required to restore the facility to safe operating conditions. Given the urgency of the situation, expedited approval is requested to allow work to proceed without delay.
