Mr. Kirby Smith, Superintendent:

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and that 2019 is off to a great start.

I’d like to ask our board members to keep Marion Co. Supt, Mrs. Schlosser in your thoughts and prayers as she lost her daughter unexpectedly last week.

From all indications, coming back from Christmas Break with a teacher workday was a hit with our administrator and staff.

In case you haven’t heard, Elizabeth Sullivan was the overall DYW scholastic winner this past weekend at the state DYW event.

Last Tuesday night I had the opportunity to present to this year’s new Superintendents during one of their many trainings in Frankfort.  I was asked to present on my capstone presentation and the process.

Tomorrow morning representatives from Green and Taylor counties will meeting here with us to discuss the possibility of apply for the New Skills for Youth grant. If we were to receive this grant the money would be used to assist in the development of new Central Kentucky Career Academy.

Mr. Kidwell, Mr. Settle and I are scheduled to travel to Owensboro to tour their innovation academy next Thursday, however if our basketball teams win the Class A regional tournament that is the day they would play in the class A state tournament, so we would have to reschedule once again but that would be a good reason to have to reschedule.

With that being said both our girls and boys teams are playing tonight in the first round of the class A regional tournament against Caverna. Girl’s game started at 6:30 with boys to follow.

Our maintenance guys worked very hard over the Christmas break to take the old CCR room and make that into two rooms, one for the nurse and the other for Ms. Doss, CCR teacher.

Construction on the science lab at CMS is progressing very nicely

Crews finished with the flooring in the girls and boys basketball locker rooms over Christmas break.  The flooring looks great. If you have a chance please stop by and check it out.
