BOARD MISSION STATEMENT
The NELSON COUNTY BOARD of EDUCATION, representatives of our citizens

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairperson Larry Pate.
II.
Changes to the Agenda
There were not any changes to the agenda.
However,Superintendent Orr shared with the board that Plan (10th graders test) scores went from 92nd in 2011-2012 to 24th in 2012-2013 in the state. Also, the Explorer (8th grade test) scores went from 78th to 72nd. Damon Jackey stated that the scores show that students from all of the schools seem to be on the same level.

The recommendation for a make-up day missed due to snow is as follows:

Motion Passed: Motion to approve the make-up day, February 15, 2013 for the 2012-2013 school year
passed with a motion by Mr. Frank Hall and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.

District Improvement Plan

ISSUE: Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year; school districts are required to submit their district improvement plans in the online “ASSIST” program. Presenting to the board the current revision of the 2012-2013 Nelson County District Improvement Plan.
Motion Passed: Motion to approve the District Improvement Plan for the 2012-2013 school year
passed with a motion by Mrs. Diane Berry and a second by Mr. Nicky Rapier.
Tim Beck, Director of Elementary Instruction stated that KDE needs the district improvement plan submitted by 2/1/13. Superintendent Orr told the board that the district improvement plan will be on the agenda each month to review ongoing progress.
