Dr. Pat Dolan, a nationally recognized expert on labor-management relations in the K-12 education setting, will present to the Board, Cabinet, Assistant Superintendents, leadership of the Jefferson County Association of School Administrators (JCASA), and the Jefferson County Teachers Association (JCTA) ways to improve communication and collaboration between teachers and school administrators and at the district level.

In early June 2016, Dr. Dolan visited the district for three days. He conducted a series of interviews with the Superintendent; an Area Assistant Superintendent; the Board Chairperson; Vice-Chairperson; elementary, middle, and high school teachers (selected by JCTA); elementary, middle and high school principals (selected by JCASA); and JCTA leadership. Those conversations informed Dr. Dolan’s insights regarding ways to improve communication and collaboration toward achieving common goals established in Vision 2020: Excellence with Equity.

Dr. Dolan came to the attention of JCPS when several Board members, JCPS staff, and JCTA representatives heard him make a presentation at a national conference in the summer of 2015. Based on that experience, arrangements were made for him to come to JCPS in January 2016. It later became necessary to adjust the timing of the visit, leading to this June 2016 Work Session.
