Pursuant to the Head Start Act, the Head Start Governing Body is required to participate in annual governance training. The JCPS Early Childhood Team will provide the training for all Board members.

Board members will view a video presentation providing a brief update from the Head Start training delivered in 2015 and highlighting (3) specific areas of focus relative to Head Start Programs.

At the end of the training session, Board members will have a better understanding of:

• the procedures used for the selection of members for the Head Start Policy Council

• the financial management, accounting, reporting policies and compliance measures to ensure laws and regulations are followed as they relate to Head Start financial statements

• the results from internal monitoring visits conducted under section 641A(c), including appropriate follow-up activities
