Summer School Report

Middle School
1. Eleven students completed all required assignments.
2. 3 students removed from summer school for missing more than 3 days.
3. Total 19 students enrolled in summer school.
4. One DaytonA studens completed all their coursework in summer school –others got work done but did not complete.
High School
1. A total of 21.5 credits were earned.
2. 17 total students in summer school.
3. 3 students completed all courses.
4. 10 students did not finish.
5. 4 students removed (i.e. attendance, discipline, compliance)
6. A 4th year senior was able to complete enough credits to graduate and pass Civics Exam.

General Information
• Staffing - still need to hire social studies teacher and blended learning/media specialist
• 7th Grade Orientation is Thursday, August 1st at 6:00
• Readifest is Wednesday, August 7th from 1:00 – 3:00 at Lincoln Elementary
• Professional Development Days for staff are August 9th and August 12th
• Opening Day for Teachers is Tuesday, August 13th
• First Day for Students is Wednesday, August 14th
• Dual Credit students start at Gateway on Monday, August 19th

• The SBDM council and school administration have been busy hiring new staff members for the 2019 – 2020 school year. We have almost every position filled and are excited about our new and energetic teachers that will be joining our team.

• We have had teachers attend and/or will attend the Professional Learning Opportunities this summer:

o The Behavior Institute

o Special Education Bootcamp

o Curriculum Planning

o Junior Great Book/Shared Inquiry Training

o CTE Summer Conference

• We have teachers attending a Junior Great Book/Shared Inquiry Training on July 29 and July 30.

• Many content areas and grade levels have been in over the summer for six hours of professional learning working on curriculum alignment and finalizing curriculum documents.

• We are in the middle of putting the final touches on the August 9 and August 12 professional learning day, along with planning many other items for the upcoming school year.

• New Teacher Orientation is on Thursday, August 1. Jeff Gulle, a contributing author to Harry Wong’s Classroom Management Book, will be at Dayton Schools.

ASSESSMENT

• Schools are currently working on their Assessment Calendars for the 2019-2020 school year.

  • District is going to purchase Raptor which is software that prints badges for visitors based on a quick background check using their drivers license.
