VII. Informational Items (Action Possible)
VII.1. Holmes High School Archery Club Proposal
Mr. Ken Ellis, Athletic Director
Rationale

Mr. Ken Ellis, Athletic Director is proposing to start an Archery Club at Holmes High School. Competitive Archery builds a lot of the same skills that athletic sports do. Archery takes tremendous amount of team building and coordination, as well as planning, practice, and individual skills. As in other sports, students build character and develop discipline, self-esteem and sportsmanship through practice and games. Archery is co-ed, inclusive, and engages students who might not otherwise participate in school athletics or activities.

Students in grades 9-12 are eligible. The sport is played in the winter, November through March. Practice will be held in the ROTC shooting range at Holmes High School. There are currently 45 students who signed up wishing to play and two teachers interested in coaching the sport.
