Discussion

Mr. Kirby Smith, Superintendent:

At our last meeting I shared with you all how our enrollment at CES had increased and that we would be hiring a new kindergarten teacher. CES has hired Ms. Lindsey Muncie as our new kindergarten teacher. She is doing great and the students have transitioned very well.

Just received word last week from Melissa Goins, Director of the Division of Family Resource and Youth Services Center that we have been approved for reconfiguration of our Family Resource and Youth Services Center. We will be posting a position in the near future.

Our 2nd District Facilities Planning team meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday October 23rd starting at 6:00 here in the board room. Mr. Kidwell, is the chairman and Ms. Elisha Rhodes is vice chair of the planning team.

ACT has been selected as the college admissions exam vendor for 2018-19 and 2019-20 and can be renewed for an additional four years. The ACT test date has been set for March 12th. The online testing window has been set for March 12-14 and 19-21. Senate Bill 1 requires that students take a college admissions exam at grade 10 and 11. The new contract with ACT includes pricing for both grade levels. However, KDE is working to secure funding for the 10th grade.

With this new contract students will free several free ACT resources….

·         Personalized, self-guided plan based on their test results from pre ACT, practice ACT or the official ACT test

·         Access to educational video games, activities, quizzes, lesson plans and assignments.

·         Tips and strategies for taking the ACT exam.

This is Homecoming week at CHS and at the football game Friday night will be fan appreciation night. We are letting all Campbellsville fans in the game free. Any student in elementary school that attends must be accompanied by an adult. The District wide pep rally will begin at CHS at 9:00 and the homecoming parade will start at 11:30. Later that night from 5:30-7:00 in the high school café will be a free chili supper. We will be giving away two kindle fires and two flat screen TV’s at the football game. You must be present to win and in order to have your name in for the drawing you must complete a parent survey either at the chili supper or under the pavilion at the game. Giveaways will take place at the end of each quarter.

Our Veterans Day ceremony will be held in the high school gym on November 13th starting at 9:30.

We will have a food service site visit on December 11th

Mr. Kidwell, Mr. Settle and myself will be traveling to Owensboro sometime in November to visit and tour Owensboro’s innovation academy.

Commit to Graduate ceremony for the class of 2022- Friday November 9th at 10:00 a.m.

This past weekend was a GREAT weekend for the Eagles….

·        Football team won Friday night against Bethlehem, our record is now 7-1.

·        Boy’s golf competed in the KHSAA state golf tournament over fall break.

·        Our marching band season is well underway, the band performed this past weekend in Marion County and will be traveling to Madison Southern High School this weekend.

I am providing each of you with a copy of my calendar for September, October and November.
