Welcome to the meeting of the Bullitt County Board of Education.  As a reminder, the Board does welcome public comment during their meeting tonight, but in order to speak to the board you must register to do so by listing your name and address and the topic on which you will be speaking. 

All topics should be pertinent to items on tonight’s agenda.  Each speaker will be given an allotted three minutes of time with a tone signifying 30 seconds remaining, and another tone signifying the end of your time.  Please note that there will be no comment from the Board tonight, but the superintendent will make note of any items and follow up as necessary. This presentation details a potential partnership with Dataseam. Dataseam is a Louisville-based non-profit that has helped dozens of school districts around Kentucky establish apprenticeship programs for high school juniors and seniors. This two-year program offers students paid work experience, specialized training, and a national certification. It provides direct district funding and new classroom computers based on apprentice participation. These workstations will also contribute to the DataseamGrid, supporting cancer research at the University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center when not in student use.

The Department of Pupil Personnel is pleased to share the concept of the McKinney-Vento HEART House, a centralized support space designed to better serve BCPS students and families experiencing homelessness.

Purpose & Vision The HEART House (Helping, Empowering, Accessing Resources Together) will serve as a welcoming, trauma-informed hub providing stability, dignity, and access to essential resources. The vision is to remove barriers to education by addressing basic needs while strengthening connections between families, schools, and community support.

Current & Future Uses The HEART House will serve as a safe, dignified location where families can access McKinney-Vento services, food and essential supplies, laundry facilities, family meeting space, and student mentoring. As funding allows through grants, donations, and district resources, services may expand to include extended staffing, additional programming days, summer services, and enhanced family engagement opportunities.

Rollout & Recognition A phased rollout is planned, with a ribbon cutting and community opening anticipated in February-March 2026. The February Board meeting will include formal recognition of community partners and local businesses whose generous donations of materials, labor, and services made this project possible. This initiative reflects BCPS’s commitment to collaboration, compassion, and ensuring every student has the support needed to succeed.
