Approve the Yamanashi Gakuin High School (YGHS) English Immersion program for proposed dates of September 20-29, 2023.   Requested by Kelly Caldwell, Berea High School Principal and recommended by Dr. Diane Hatchett, Superintendent.

Summary: In 2019 Berea Community School hosted 32 students and 3 adult advisors from Yamanashi Gakuin High School (YGHS) in Kofu, Japan. While in Berea they attended an English
Immersion program (Provided by MCIC) while engaging in homestay activities with Berea
Independent School District students and families. YGHS would like to renew this program
in September of 2023 with approximately 30-33 Japanese students. All substantial costs
will be borne by MCIC and YGHS, including rental of BCS facilities and providing a small
stipend to each host family. Length of the program would be approximately 10 days, with a
preferred dates of September 20-29.

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE BEREA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, CONFIRMING THE ACCEPTANCE OF AN OFFER OF ASSISTANCE FROM THE KENTUCKY SCHOOL FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION COMMISSION; AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF A PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH SAID COMMISSION; AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE BEREA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FINANCE CORPORATION AND ANY FURTHER NECESSARY INSTRUMENTS; APPROVING A CERTAIN GUARANTEED ENERGY SAVINGS CONTRACT FOR THE ACQUISITION AND INSTALLATION OF ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES PROJECTS; AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF CONTINUING DISCLOSURE PROCEDURES; AND APPROVING THE PLAN OF FINANCING THE COSTS OF SAID PROJECTS.
