V.E. Student Fees Berea Community Middle and High School
Rationale

Per Berea Board of Education Policy 09.15, approve the following student fees for the 2022-2023 school year.  The fees have not changed in several years. 

  Middle School General Fee   $20.00 

  High School General Fee $45.00 

   High School Textbook Fee $3.00 per semester, per class

These fees are used for materials used in the classroom such as novels, online subscriptions for students, workbooks and other materials used by each student in a classroom.   Requested by Casey Poynter, BCMS Principal and Emily Reed, BCHS Principal, and recommended by Dr. Diane Hatchett, Superintendent.

Per Berea Board of Education Policy 09.438 and KRS 158.148, approve the District Code of Acceptable Behavior. State requires the Code to be reviewed every two years. Requested by Emily Reed, High School Principal, Casey Poynter, Middle School Principal and Kimberlee Coyle, Elementary Principal, and recommended by Dr. Diane Hatchett, Superintendent.

Rationale

Approve General Fund Real Estate (KRS 160.470) tax rate of 91.8 cents on real property and 97.7 cents on Personal Property (KRS 160.473) with 0.1 cents added to the above property rates to recover prior year losses due to exonerations, KRS 134.590.  This is expected to produce $2,542,405.53. Of this amount $322,342.05 is from new and personal property.  5.3 cents of the total property rate shown above is required to produce the 5 cent equivalent tax necessary for participation in the SFCC and FSPK programs.  The General fund tax levied in fiscal year 2022 was 95 cents on real property and 98.4 cents on personal property.

Rationale

Approve the cleaning stipend for staff to clean their rooms if they choose to.  The stipend is $1,200 per school year for a standard classroom. $1,500 per year for a classroom with a bathroom.  $800 for offices per school year. This is for the 2022-2023 school year.  These stipends will be funded through American Rescue Plan Act funds.  Requested by Tony Tompkins, Director of Operations and recommended by Dr. Diane Hatchett, Superintendent.
