Board Chair Ann Meyer called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.

• Johnson received KAEE's 2023Outstanding PreK-12 School for Excellence in Environmental Education Award


• Rachel Caswell was selected to serve on the KDE School Counselor Advisory Council


• HHS Journalism/Broadcast students received 43 individual awards in the KY Journalism Teachers Association Best of Kentucky contest

Brennan Bucher represented the group and shared information about the competition and successes of other students.

The Board recognized and congratulated the students for their accomplishments and gave each a "Certificate of Achievement."

A community member addressed the Board about public forums for the soccer complex.

Jerry Wissman provided an update on the project noting that the cleanup of hot work materials (tar) would be done before the start of school. Work over the two entrance canopies will be scheduled to avoid student hours when possible.

• Imbus Roofing Pay App #2 - Highlands Roofing

Order #2461 - Motion Passed:  Approval of Pay Application #2 to Imbus Roofing in the amount of $136,107.00 for the Highlands Roof Replacement project passed with a motion by Mrs. Julie Kuhnhein and a second by Mr. Clem Fennell IV.

Jerry Wissman gave an update on the status of the project sharing that the work is about 90% complete and currently working on controls balance.  The new cooling tower will be installed during fall break.

• CMTA Pay Application #5 - GESC

Order #2462 - Motion Passed:  Approval of Pay Application #5 to CMTA, Inc. in the amount of $1,174,765.11 for the Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract program passed with a motion by Mrs. Sarah Foster and a second by Mr. Clem Fennell IV.

Jerry Wissman provided an update on the status of the project.

• BG-3 - Highlands Athletic Complex at Tower Park
• Highlands Athletic Complex - Bid Documents

Order #2463 - Motion Passed:  Approval of the BG-3 for Construction and Bid Documents for the Highlands Athletic Complex at Tower Park passed with a motion by Mr. Jeff Beach and a second by Mrs. Julie Kuhnhein.

Order #2464 - Motion Passed:  Approval of the School Resource Officer Agreement with the City of Fort Thomas passed with a motion by Mrs. Sarah Foster and a second by Mr. Jeff Beach.

Order #2465 - Motion Passed:  Approval to authorize the Superintendent to award a yearly perfect attendance bonus and develop monthly incentive drawings September through May passed with a motion by Mr. Clem Fennell IV and a second by Mrs. Julie Kuhnhein.

• ACT Report

Keith Faust shared the ACT report which shows a composite score of 23.2, an increase from last year. 

• AP Report

Keith Faust shared and reviewed the AP report which shows that 83% of the students who took an AP exam received a passing score of 3 or higher.

• Areas of Emphasis 2023-2024

Brian Robinson presented and reviewed the Areas of Emphasis for the school year.

Clem Fennell reported that the Hall of Fame committee held their annual celebration on August 12.

Jeff Beach reported that the Audit Committee met to preview the upcoming audit.

Ann Meyer reported that the Education & Eggs Committee provided a great Opening Day breakfast gifts.
