Rationale

Per Board Policy 5.1, the CHAMP Project Committee has submitted a recommendation to the superintendent for the renaming of the LaRue County High School football field/stadium. The superintendent is prepared to present the recommendation to the Board.

Recommended Motion

The approval of the recommendation in consideration of $500,000.00 from Danny F. Rock, $250,000.00 of which has been received as of this date, the existing football/soccer field located between LaRue County High School and LaRue County Middle School be named "Rock Field" and the name "Danny F. Rock Stadium" be listed on the scoreboard, both upon completion of the CHAMP Project passed with a motion by Dawn Conner and a second by Price Smith.

9.B. Football Field & Track (CHAMP) Geotechnical RFP
Rationale

Based on the cost, personnel proposed, and the scope of work to be performed, Ross Tarrant Architects (RTA) recommends that Solid Ground Consulting Engineers be awarded the geotechnical work for the LaRue County Athletic Upgrades (CHAMP) project. 

It is RTA's recommendation that the board accepts the base bid of $5,214 for the sample borings as well as the alternate price of $1,500 for the five pavement cores.

Attached is RTA's summary and recommendation letter for the track and field geotechnical exploration, and a copy of the recommended proposal.

The Math Achievement Fund Mini-Grant is a competitive grant opportunity from the Kentucky Department of Education that if awarded provides $40,000 for a school to purchase high-quality mathematics instructional materials and associated professional learning for Tier 1, Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 needs. The district files the application on behalf of a school. The grant is for one year only and does not require any matching funds.

Rationale

Approval is requested to submit a WHAS Crusade for Children grant application for the 2024-2025 school year.

Each year, the LaRue County School system submits a grant to the WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc.  In the past, Crusade grants may help to fund the purchase of equipment and services for special needs students, including salaries for personnel to provide additional instruction/intervention, computers, FM systems, music therapy, software, etc.

The District RTI committee met Oct 5, 2023 to review and update the district Response to Intervention plan.  Adjustments were made to the frequency and duration of interventions in Tier 2 and Tier 3, all schools updated their intervention programs.  Diagnostics and Interventions were added for Written Expression in addition to the existing academic areas.

Rationale

For the 2024-25 school year, the superintendent must recommend for approval of the local board a calendar committee, following the committee makeup that is listed in new Section KRS 158.070 (2) (b-d) annually.

(d)   "School district calendar committee" means a committee consisting of:

        2.   One (1) school district office administrator other than the superintendent;

        3.   One (1) member of the local board of education;

        4.   Two (2) parents of students attending a school in the district;
