7. Certified Evaluation Plan 19-20 Revision for Covid 19 Impact
Rationale

Due to the impact of Covid 19, the Kentucky Department of Education has recommended each district revise their 19-20 Certified Evaluation Plan to allow for additional flexibility in completing evaluation requirements for the year. SB 177 includes language to support revision of the plans. Revisions do not need to be sent to KDE for approval. Local board approval is all that is required.

Draft revisions were e-mailed to all certified staff on April 1. The CEP committee met virtually on April 3 and unanimously approved the recommended revisions, with minor adjustments to the wording for clarity. Revision recommendations are included on page 2-3 of the plan attached. All changes are included on these 2 pages and supersede anything else in the document. The assurance pages have been updated and will need to be signed digitally once the revisions are approved.

Please find attached TWO versions of the document:

1. Version Showing Revisions--additions are in yellow highlight, deletes are red strikethrough. Only pages 1-8 have been revised.

2. Final Version--Assurance signatures will be added after approval

9. Special Duty Pay
Rationale

ISSUE:  During the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Beshear has communicated the expectation that all Kentucky school districts create a feeding program that will continue to provide meals to its students, meaning food service employees at each school are classified as essential employees.  As a result, our food service staff continues to work every day, coming into direct contact with the public.

BACKGROUND: The Food Service Department has never encountered anything like this before, however the Food Service Staff have continued to work in direct contact with the public each and everyday starting on March 16, 2020. Giving the Food Service Staff extra support during this challenging time is a small way to continue to allow them to serve our community.  The District has been in communication with other districts and KDE, it has been determined the best method to support staff is through a Special Duty Pay (or Stipend).

RECOMMENDATION:   The Board authorize the Special Duty Pay (Stipend) for Nutrition Staff at $20 (extra) each day they work, beginning on March 16, 2020.  The Special Duty Pay (Stipend) will only be utilized during the COVID19 pandemic.

Respectfully submitted by Stephanie Utley, Director of Child Nutrition and Jessica Castenir, Finance Office
