May Special-Called Meeting
1. Call to Order
2. Sufficient Notice of Meeting
3. Termination of Agreement with Terracon
Rationale

In March 2018, LaRue County Schools entered into an agreement with Terracon to provide geotechnical engineering and construction special inspection services for the proposed high school gymnasium at LaRue County High School.

Due to a change in the scope of work for that project, Terracon’s services are no longer required. Per the Acceptance/Termination section of the Agreement for Services, we provided written notice to Terracon (April 15, 2019) requesting a termination of agreement to provide services for the new LCHS Gymnasium project.

A copy of the original agreement and letter requesting termination of services is attached for your review.

5. Rhonda Simpson Preschool Discussion
6. Approval to Apply for the Reading Recovery Teacher Leader Grant
Rationale

The University of Kentucky Reading Recovery Project provides grants to help offset the cost of employing a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader in your district. The RRTL is a regional Reading Recovery resource teacher who provides training and support for Reading Recovery teachers. The RRTL is also able to provide training and support as well as limited direct intervention services for students in the grant host district.  The district received funds from this grant during the 18-19 school year and we are requesting permission to apply for the same funds for 19-20.

The grant provides $60,000 towards the salary and expenses of the RRTL. The grant does not require a designated match or in-kind amount, however, if the funding provided is not sufficient to cover the full cost of training, materials, salary and benefits the district will assume the balance of the cost. The district will bill participating regional Reading Recovery schools an annual fee to help offset the cost. The host district is exempt from the fee. In addition, the host district will provide for an appropriate workspace and technology needs for the RRTL.

Reading Recovery is the literacy intervention program we implement in our two elementary schools with the Read to Achieve grant funds.
