Special Meeting: Screening of Superintendent Candidates
I. Call to Order
Rationale

To All Members of the Board of Education of Jefferson County, Kentucky, and Members of the Superintendent Screening Committee:

The Chairman of the Board of Education is calling a special joint meeting of the Board of Education and the Superintendent Screening Committee to be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the VanHoose Education Center, 3332 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

The purpose of this meeting is to meet with the superintendent search consultant and receive the slate of candidates from the search consultant.

Any and all matters incidental to and supplementary of the foregoing may also be taken up, considered, and acted upon in the meeting.

Portions of the meeting will be closed to the public as provided for under KRS 61.810 (1)(f) of the Open Meetings Act.

Actions Taken

Order #80 - Motion Passed:  "Good morning. I'd like to call this meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Education to order and ask for a motion to recess and reconvene in executive session for the purpose of reviewing the applications of candidates for the position of superintendent. The Board and the screening committee will receive a presentation from our search consultants from McPherson and Jacobson then discuss the applications. As we have agreed previously, neither the screening committee nor the Board will publicly discuss the identities of the applicants until we announce the finalists next month. Do I have a motion?" The recommendation passed with a motion by Mrs. Carol Ann Haddad and a second by Mr. Larry Hujo.

II.A. Exit Executive Session
Rationale

The executive session was adjourned by consensus and Board members returned to open session at approximately 3:20 p.m.

III. Adjournment
Rationale

Chairman Stephen Imhoff made the following statement: "The Board and Screening Committee identified six candidates as semifinalists. These candidates will be interviewed on Wednesday and Friday of next week, May 25 and 27. Once those interviews are completed, we plan to announce the names of the finalists on June 1. May I have a motion to adjourn?"

Order #81 - Motion Passed:  A recommendation to adjourn the May 21, 2011, special meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Education at approximately 3:20 p.m. passed with a motion by Mrs. Carol Ann Haddad and a second by Mr. Larry Hujo.
