I. Call to Order
Rationale

To All Members of the Board of Education of Jefferson County, Kentucky:

The Chairman of the Board of Education is calling a special meeting of the Board of Education to be held on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. at the VanHoose Education Center, 3332 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

The purpose of this meeting is as follows:

4:00 p.m. Kentucky Core Academic Standards/New Accountability Standards

6:00 p.m. Negotiation Strategies

Any and all matters incidental to and supplementary of the foregoing may also be taken up, considered and acted upon in the meeting.

The regular meeting of the Board of Education will take place at 7:00 p.m., as scheduled, at the VanHoose Education Center, 3332 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

Portions of the meeting will be closed to the public as provided for under KRS 61.810 (l)(e) of the Open Meetings Act.

Rationale

A 4 p.m. work session concerning Kentucky Core Academic Standards/New Accountability Standards/Strategic Planning and Board Governance will be facilitated by the following staff members and guests:

  • Dr. Lynne Wheat, interim executive director, JCPS Gheens Academy;
  • Kim Goff, director, Analytical and Applied Science;
  • Lue Peabody, director, Literacy;
  • Karen Kidwell, science consultant, Kentucky Department of Education; and
  • Dr. Sally Anderson, consultant.
