Work Session: School Improvement Grant/Budget Update
I. JCPS School Improvement Grant
Rationale

Jefferson County Public Schools is submitting its proposal for the School Improvement Grant to the Kentucky Department of Education. The grant will serve 26 JCPS schools in Tier 1 – 3 status under No Child Left Behind. At the work session on June 14th, we will share a summary of our district’s proposal. The intent of our district proposal is to build capacity within each of our schools to implement their comprehensive reform efforts, resulting in improved student proficiency in Reading and Math. We will invest in quality people, quality professional development, and targeted interventions. Our overarching  approach is to leverage instructional improvement, enhance professional growth and development and foster a positive teaching and learning environment.

A brief overview of each school’s plan and the full application can be accessed by using the following link:

II. Budget Update
Rationale

Cordelia Hardin, chief financial officer/treasurer, and John Collopy, director of Financial Planning and Management, will provide an update on the district's budget for Fiscal Year 2010-11.

The Tentative Budget was prepared based on the Senate’s budget. Now that the State budget has passed, the SEEK revenue forecast will be revised based on the new information. The Working Budget will be presented for approval in September and will include these revisions.
