Executive Session: Pending Litigation
I. Call to Order
Rationale

The Chair of the Board of Education is calling a special meeting of the Board of Education to be held on Tuesday, January 11, at 5:00 p.m. at the VanHoose Education Center, 3332 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky. The purpose of this meeting is for Board members to have discussions regarding pending litigation.

Portions of this meeting will be closed to the public pursuant to KRS 61.810 (1)(c) of the Kentucky Open Meetings Act

The Regular Meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. as scheduled. These meetings will be conducted via video-teleconference pursuant to KRS 61.823 and KRS 61.826. The primary location for these meetings and where all members can be seen and heard by the public will be Stewart Auditorium, VanHoose Education Center. Members are permitted to attend in-person or via video-teleconference pursuant to KRS 61.826. Members of the public may attend in-person or watch the live-stream of the meeting via the following link: JCBE MEETING VIDEO.

For these meetings, in-person public comments will be deferred to written comments to the Board.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to voice opinions or express concerns by submitting remarks via email. Remarks should be limited to 500 words or less and sent to the Assistant Secretary to the Board (boardcomments@jefferson.kyschools.us.) for dissemination purposes prior to the meeting. Public remarks will be shared with each Board member and recorded in the Official Minutes.

Actions Taken

Order #2022-1 - Motion Passed:  A motion that the Board of Education go into closed session to receive an update on pending litigation in the matter of Martin. v. Jefferson County Board of Education, et al. Civil Action No.3:20-cv-560-CRS passed with a motion by Mrs. Linda Duncan and a second by Dr. Christopher Kolb.

III. Adjourn from Executive Session
Recommended Motion

A motion that the Board of Education adjourn from Executive Session and return to Open Session

Order #2022-2 - Motion Passed:  A motion that the Board of Education adjourn from Executive Session and return to Open Session passed with a motion by Mr. James Craig and a second by Ms. Sarah McIntosh.
