Proposal to Amend the 2017–18 School Calendar
JCPS schools were closed Friday, April 13, 2018, due to more than 2,500 teacher absences.
The schedule for 2018 high school graduations has already been established, and adjusting that schedule at this late date would present significant challenges.
Under this proposed amendment to the 2017-18 school calendar, the missed instructional day for April 13, 2018, would be waived. The last day of the 2017-18 school year for students would remain May 31, 2018, and the graduation schedule would remain the same.
The proposed amended calendar would comply with the requirements of KRS 158.070 relating to the length of the school term and the instructional year.
Superintendent Martin Pollio recommends the Board of Education approve amending the 2017-18 school calendar by waiving April 13, 2018 as an instructional day.
Order #77 - Motion Passed: Superintendent Martin Pollio recommends the Board of Education approve amending the 2017-18 school calendar by waiving April 13, 2018 as an instructional day. The recommendation passed with a motion by Mr. Benjamin Gies and a second by Dr. Lisa Willner.
