The Chairwoman of the Board of Education is calling a special meeting of the Board of Education to be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the VanHoose Education Center, 3332 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

The purpose of this meeting is a discussion of possible interview questions for the two superintendent search finalists. The Board will also meet in Executive Session for the purpose of discussions that might lead to the appointment of an individual employee.

Any and all matters incidental to and supplementary of the foregoing may also be taken up, considered and acted upon at the meeting.

Portions of this meeting will be closed to the public pursuant to KRS 61.810 (1)(f) of the Kentucky Open Meetings Act. 

• 02 11 18 Special JCBE Meeting Notice

In consultation with the Superintendent Screening Committee, the Board has selected two individuals as finalists to become the next superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools: Dr. Marty Pollio, Acting Superintendent of JCPS and Dr. Mike Raisor, Chief Operations Officer of JCPS. The finalists have participated in four public forums across the District where students, parents, and community members have been able to hear responses to questions from both candidates. In addition to the public forums, community feedback has been solicited through a variety of means including focus groups with stakeholders and a community survey.

This public input will inform the questions that the Board will pose during final interviews and the issues the Board will consider when selecting the new superintendent.

This special meeting will permit the Board to discuss the final phase of the superintendent search and selection process.

Order #29 - Motion Passed:  A motion to accept interview questions as edited passed with a motion by Mr. Benjamin Gies and a second by Mr. Chris Brady.

The Board of Education will enter executive session for the purpose of discussions that might lead to the appointment of an individual employee per KRS 61.810(1)(f).

Order #30 - Motion Passed:  A motion that the Board of Education enter executive session for the purpose of discussions that might lead to the appointment of an individual employee passed with a motion by Mr. Benjamin Gies and a second by Dr. Lisa Willner.

Order #31 - Motion Passed:  A motion that the Board of Education adjourn executive session and return to open session passed with a motion by Dr. Lisa Willner and a second by Mrs. Linda Duncan.

Order #32 - Motion Passed:  A motion that the Board of Education appoint Dr. Martin Pollio as Superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools effective no later than April 1, 2018, subject to contract terms to be negotiated passed with a motion by Mr. Benjamin Gies and a second by Mr. Chris Brady.

Order #33 - Motion Passed:  A motion to adjourn passed with a motion by Mrs. Linda Duncan and a second by Mr. Chris Brady.
