Work Session: Behavior, Interventions, and Supports
I. Behavior Data, RP/PBIS Implementation, and Handbook Update
Rationale

4 25 17 JCBE Work Session Audio

During the Work Session on April 25, 2017, Board members will receive an overview of District discipline data (including disproportionality), information regarding implementation of our Behavior Support Model and IIRP contract, and status of suggested revisions for the Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook.

Dr. Zeitz will begin the presentation with “acknowledgements”, followed by District data updates and trends.  Racial disproportionality data will be provided to the Board in advance of the meeting enabling Dr. Zeitz to speak to District next steps for supporting schools with specific disproportionality gaps. Dr. Averette and Angelique Scherer will provide the Board with an update on ECE behavior data and next steps. Dr. Zeitz will discuss collaborative efforts necessary to inform, educate, and support best practice pedagogy for building culture and fostering adult-student relationships.

Dr. Brahim will revisit the IIRP contract with the Board. She will provide any additional trainings or timeline updates. In addition, the Board will learn about the complexity of coordination with the school-wide trainings.  Dr. Brahim also plans to provide the Board guidance on other behavior supports her team is providing schools not participating in the full-school implementations.

Finally, the Work Session focus will turn its attention to the Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook.  Dr. Zeitz will share the process for stakeholder feedback, what partners provided feedback, and finally, an overview of the feedback received.  Dr. Zeitz will then conclude with suggested adjustments for the first Handbook reading on May, 9 2017, with the final Board approval happening on May, 23, 2017.
