Superintendent Professional Growth and Effectiveness System
KRS 156.557 requires the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to develop a statewide system of evaluation for all certified school personnel to be used by school districts.
As part of its response to that requirement, KDE has developed the Superintendent Professional Growth and Evaluation System (SPGES), to be used by a local board of education in evaluating the district’s superintendent. The new evaluation system is required to be used for the superintendent evaluation for the 2014-15 school year.
During this work session, Dr. Tommy Floyd, Chief of Staff of the Kentucky Department of Education, will provide Board members with information regarding SPGES and train them in its use.
