Work Session: Roles and Responsibilities of SBDM Councils and Their Effect on Student Achievement
I. Roles and Responsibilities of SBDM Councils and Their Effect on Student Achievement
Rationale

According to Kentucky Revised Statute 160.345, "The school council shall have the responsibility to set school policy consistent with district board policy which shall provide an environment to enhance the students' achievement and help the school meet the goals established by KRS 158.6451." JCPS supports this effort through comprehensive training, evaluation, and support for the councils.

The SBDM Specialist will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the SBDM councils. Principals and one parent or teacher council member from each of the three schools selected from Districts 2, 4, and 6 will provide additional information on the council's role in improving student achievement.

Council members from Districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 will present on the council's role in improving student achievement at the March 10 work session.
