Special and Joint Meeting with Frankfort Independent
I. Call to Order
Rationale

The joint meeting between the Franklin County Board of Education and the Frankfort Board of Education is called to order.

The mission of the Franklin County Public Schools is to educate students in a community-involved learning environment that ensures all students will achieve their greatest individual potential in order to succeed in a global society.

II. Discuss Tax Rates
Rationale

The superintendent and board members will discuss the upcoming tax rates.

III. Recess from Board Meeting
Rationale

It is necessary for the Board to recess from the Special Agenda in order to travel to the Frankfort High School for a joint Board meeting with Frankfort Independent.

IV. Resume Special Meeting of the Franklin County Board of Education
Rationale

This Special meeting of the Franklin County Board is now back in session at 6:13pm.  Joining them will be the Frankfort Independent Board.

V. Reports and Information on Alternative Education
V.A. Presentation of Task Force Background
Rationale

Judge Shepherd will present information regarding the background of the completed task force.

V.B. Presentation of Information for Alternative Education
Rationale

Melissa Rogers, from Franklin County, and Alan Spade, from Frankfort Independent, will present information regarding the Alternative Education Project.

VI. Joint Discussion on Future of the Franklin County Alternative Education Program
VII. Approve Creation of Joint Alternative Education Committee
Rationale

Franklin County and Frankfort Independent would like approval to create a committee, consisting of a superintendent, alternative education director, and two board members, to continue discussions and proposed plans for a joint alternative education program.

VIII. Joint Discussion of CTC & Aviation Reciprocal Agreements
Rationale

The Franklin County and Frankfort Independent board will discuss the possibility of a reciprocal agreement between the districts regarding students from their district attending the other district's CTC or Aviation programs.

IX. Discuss Possible Dates for Joint Legislative Reception

Rationale

The next meeting of the Franklin County Board of Education will be 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Board of Education.
