Rationale

The Franklin County Board of Education has provided time in its agenda for individuals to make comments. Comments to the Board will be allowed up to a maximum of three (3) minutes. The Board does not allow comments on any matter dealing with personnel issues. Kentucky law states specifically that personnel matters are the responsibility of the Superintendent. On all personnel matters, you should contact the Superintendent of Schools. No questions, comments, or decisions/action related to public comments will be made by Board members at this time, unless the specific topic is on the agenda; however, the Board will listen to the comments and/or suggestions which may lead to a discussion of same at a future meeting. If an individual wishes for the Board to discuss and/or take action on a particular issue, they must follow the procedures outlined in Franklin County Board of Education Policy 10.2. The Superintendent or the designee will be able to assist in this request.

VI.D. Award Bid for Demolition
Rationale

On September 7th, 2023, bids for the demolition project of the old central office were opened in the Boardroom of the current Central Office.  The opening of the bids was facilitated by JRA, the district's architecture firm.  Attached is the bid recommendation made by JRA based on bid price and the firm's experience.  The cost of the project is anticipated at a total of $481,600.  Additionally, the tabulation of all bids submitted is attached for your review.

Rationale

The Western Hills High School Choir requests permission for an out-of-state trip to Orlando March 26-March 30, 2024. The students will visit Walt Disney World Resort, participate in workshops and performances.

VIII.F.5. Cross Country Teams Overnight Trip-WHHS/FCHS
Rationale

FCHS/WHHS Cross Country teams coached by Adam Schaffner are requesting the following overnight trip:

 

Leaving 10/13/2023 to return 10/14/2023 for the Cross Country meet in Monticello, KY.

Bus/driver cost will be split before WH and FC cross country accounts. Three chaperones (coaches) and 16 student athletes. 

Hotel cost will be covered by WH and FC cross country accounts.

The purpose of the trip is to compete against different competition than we normally see in our area.

The bus will be leaving from Franklin County and all students will meet there for departure.

Westridge requests approval for the 5th grade overnight trip to the zoo. Trip details are attached.

VIII.F.7. Dance Team Overnight Trip/Competition-FCHS
Rationale

The FCHS Dance Team requests approval for an overnight trip to compete in the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida. The team would leave on February 1st and return on February 5th. The team received a bid to participate from the United Dance Association (UDA). 
 
Lodging- onsite at Walt Disney World
Travel- Southwest Airlines from Lousiville to Orlando
Roster- 18 dancers and 2 coaches will attend.

Rationale

Bondurant Middle School requests approval for the annual 8th grade trip to Washington D. C. on April 23-26, 2024. The proposed itinerary is attached.

For your review and  approval is a listing of an asset that needs to be surplused or disposed of:

Table Saw- Would like to get a donation for the item instead of throwing away and would like funds to go to the AG Department.

Old Marquee- Would like for item to be thrown away.

Cheer Mats- Would like to  surplus up to 7  cheer mats to make room for the new mats purchased. Cheer coach would like to be able to sell the old mats and have the profits stay with the cheer team as a fundraiser.
