The Franklin County Board of Education has provided time in its agenda for individuals to make comments. Comments to the Board will be allowed up to a maximum of three (3) minutes. The Board does not allow comments on any matter dealing with personnel issues. Kentucky law states specifically that personnel matters are the responsibility of the Superintendent. On all personnel matters, you should contact the Superintendent of Schools. No questions, comments, or decisions/action related to public comments will be made by Board members at this time, unless the specific topic is on the agenda; however, the Board will listen to the comments and/or suggestions which may lead to a discussion of same at a future meeting. If an individual wishes for the Board to discuss and/or take action on a particular issue, they must follow the procedures outlined in Franklin County Board of Education Policy 10.2. The Superintendent or the designee will be able to assist in this request.

IV.C. Sewer Easement Request
Rationale

Attached is a sewer easement request from the city for an area in front of Franklin County High School for upgrades to the existing sewer system. The Easement has been reviewed and no issues were found with approving the request.

Rationale

KY State Beta Club Convention:

January 15-17, 2023 at Lexington Central Bank Convention Center
We will be traveling by bus to the Residence Inn City Center in Downtown Lexington.
The cost for students is $160 which includes registration, hotel accomodations, bus transportation, paying for substitutes for chaperones, props and competition materials, and campaign tshirt.
There are scholarships available for students who cannot pay or require a reduced rate for the trip.
We plan to take 50 students and 4 chaperones:  Kathy Parritt, Stacia Campbell, Jennifer Donnelly,  and Tom Marshall.
 

VI.G.4. Softball Tournament Overnight-WHHS
Rationale

The Western Hills Softball Team requests permission to attend a tournament April 2-5, 2023 in Pigeon Forge, TN.  

VI.G.5. KYA Y-Club Trip-WHHS
Rationale

WHHS KYA is requesting approval to attend the conference in Louisville November 30-December 2.  

VI.G.6. Dance Team Trip-FCHS
Rationale

The FCHS Dance Team requests approval for an overnight trip to compete in the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida. The team would leave on February 2nd and return on February 6th. The team received a bid to participate from the United Dance Association (UDA). 
 
Lodging- onsite at Walt Disney World
Travel- Miller bus transportation. See the quote attached. If it costs less to fly, we will explore that option. 
Roster- 14 dancers and 2 coaches will attend.
Estimated trip cost for the team: $800/dancer. Dancers are asked to pay $200 each as the FCHS Dance Team Boosters will cover the rest of the expenses.
