Rationale

The Franklin County Board of Education has provided time in its agenda for individuals to make comments. Comments to the Board will be allowed up to a maximum of three (3) minutes. The Board does not allow comments on any matter dealing with personnel issues. Kentucky law states specifically that personnel matters are the responsibility of the Superintendent. On all personnel matters, you should contact the Superintendent of Schools. No questions, comments, or decisions/action related to public comments will be made by Board members at this time, unless the specific topic is on the agenda; however, the Board will listen to the comments and/or suggestions which may lead to a discussion of same at a future meeting. If an individual wishes for the Board to discuss and/or take action on a particular issue, they must follow the procedures outlined in Franklin County Board of Education Policy 10.2. The Superintendent or the designee will be able to assist in this request.

Rationale

702 KAR 1:170 requires that districts must annually acknowledge to their board that they have reviewed the latest best practice guide for data security. The attached summary are some of the practices that we employ to ensure data security.

Rationale

Diane Stronge, with Bourbon on the Banks, would like to contract with Franklin County Schools to use four buses and drivers on the evening of September 30, 2022.  They would like to transport the KSU marching band downtown for the festival.  The estimated fee for mileage and drivers is $578. The use will not interfere with student afternoon bus routes.

VIII.E.1. DC Chorus Trip-FCHS
Rationale

Below are details for the FCHS out of state chorus trip to Washington DC request.


Trip Dates: March 28-April 2


This spring’s destination is to Washington DC where the Choristers will perform an afternoon concert at The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and an anticipated performance of the National Anthem in the The US Capitol Rotunda. Dates, itinerary and other pertinent information, including travel insurance, are included in the attached Tour Package from Magical Memories Tour and Travel, Kris Billiter, Owner.


40 Choir members and an estimated 12 adult chaperones will be traveling.

Estimated Trip Cost: $820 (Includes lodging 4 nights, Morehead State at least 2-3 meals each day, tour guide with us the entire time, performances, Arlington Cemetery Tour, evening dinner cruise, motorcoach transportation, museum visites, and accommodations for director/accompanist.)

No child will be denied the opportunity to travel due to cost. Community Sponsors will help assist with kids who cannot afford the travel costs.

Transportation to/from Morehead:

Boosters are providing motor coach transportation through Miller Transportation, Louisville, KY.

 

Should a student be unable to afford the $150 to travel, the FCHS Choir Boosters will find scholarships or Shining Star funds can be used to off-set costs.


VIII.E.3. Kings Island Trip-FCHS Chorus
Rationale

FCHS Chorus is requesting permission to travel out of state on August 3rd as our FCHS Choir Kickstart event culminates with a small competition inside Kings Island, singing several of the tunes we will have worked on the two days prior. We intend to use one FCPS Bus and Driver to drive us up to the park.

VIII.G.1. Surplus Textbooks
Rationale

Westridge would like to surplus old Textbooks that are 19 plus years old.  There are math, science, social studies, and reading textbooks on the list.  These books have not been used for many years.  We currently have new instructional resources to teach all the subjects, except for social studies.
