Bake For Good Grant- WHHS
Western Hills High School Culinary program would like to request permission to receive the "Bake For Good" grant.
What is Bake for good:
Bake for Good is King Arthur Baking Company’s free outreach program for students in grades 4 -12. We have three goals: learn, bake, and share. Students learn to make bread from scratch at home using ingredients supplied by us. The recipe makes two loaves, one they keep and one that is shared with someone in need or as an act of kindness.
Each student will get a baking kit which includes:
• 2 lb White Whole Wheat Flour • 2 lb All Purpose Flour (or similar, while supplies last) • Recipe Booklet • 1 packet yeast • Dough scraper • Bread bag • Twist tie • Canvas Tote
How will this work:
A Bake for Good Instructor teaches a live, 45-minute remote demonstration via Zoom. This format is designed for your students to participate from home (remote) or from the classroom. I will host the chat room so this can be an interactive lesson, will learn alongside the kids and then will be able to coach them through the breadmaking process. Students will take pictures during the process and then will take pictures of them sharing one of their bread items with a friend. We then will submit a write up and a few pictures to stay within good standing of the grant requirements. Below is a short breakdown of instruction.
Day 1: students log in to view zoom and ask questions
Day 2: Students will gather all materials and have everything prepped
Day 3: Students will assemble dough
Day 4: Create loafs or rolls and bake
Day 5: Share!
