VI. Public Comments
Rationale

The Franklin County Board of Education has provided time in its agenda for individuals to make comments. Comments to the Board will be allowed up to a maximum of three (3) minutes. The Board does not allow comments on any matter dealing with personnel issues. Kentucky law states specifically that personnel matters are the responsibility of the Superintendent. On all personnel matters, you should contact the Superintendent of Schools. No questions, comments, or decisions/action related to public comments will be made by Board members at this time, unless the specific topic is on the agenda; however, the Board will listen to the comments and/or suggestions which may lead to a discussion of same at a future meeting. If an individual wishes for the Board to discuss and/or take action on a particular issue, they must follow the procedures outlined in Franklin County Board of Education Policy 10.2. The Superintendent or the designee will be able to assist in this request.

We are seeking input from parents, family, and the community in two ways: there was an open forum held tonight at 5:00 pm and there is an ongoing electronic survey posted on our website. 

Does our policy increase parent participation?  What barriers to parent participation still exist and how can they be reduced or removed? 

Findings produced by the annual evaluation shall be used to design strategies for ongoing school improvement and for revising the policy, if necessary.

Rationale

We are requesting approval of a revised Substitute Teacher Salary Schedule which reflects a $10 per day increase for any Substitute Teacher who works a minimum of 60 days during a semester.

X.F.2. Create FRC Coordinator Position
Rationale

The district is now eligible and will receive funding from the state for a Family Resource Center for Bondurant Middle and Western Hills High Schools.  We are requesting the creation of an FRC Coordinator position (8X240) to be assigned to and serve both schools.  This position will be paid from the classified salary schedule.

We are requesting approval of the attached job description for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as the creation of a 187-day LCSW position.  This position will be paid through the Title IX grant and will provide mental and social health counseling services to individual and groups of students.  An amended salary schedule which includes the pay rate for this position is also attached for approval.

X.G. Overnight/Out-of-State Trips
X.G.1. UL Honor Band - WHHS
Rationale

Western Hills Band would like to request permission for 11 student to attend and participate  with the UL Honor Band.  This would be an overnight trip on Jan 25-26.  We have two teacher chaperones and they will be staying at the Quality Inn & Suites  Airport, Louisville, KY.   Booster cover the cost of lodging.  Bus transportation would be needed. See attached.

X.G.2. All-State Band Trip - FCHS
Rationale

FCHS Band would like to send 4 students to participate in All-State Band February 6-9, 2019.

Band Director:  Josh Toppass

Students will be transported by their parents.

They will be staying at the Galt House in Louisville.

The cost per student is $185.  This includes hotel fee and participation fee.  Students are paying the band boosters and the boosters will pay corresponding bills.

Band Boosters will pay for Mr. Toppass' sub.

X.G.3. All State Band-WHHS
Rationale

WHHS Band would like to request permission to have 2 students attend the All-State Band overnight trip in Louisville, KY on Feb 6-Feb 9.  Two chaperones, staying at the Galt House in Louisville.  Band boosters cover registration and lodging. Students pay for food and parents provide transportation.  

Students had to go through 2 auditions to qualify.

Rationale

FCHS Cheerleaders would like to hold a one day Cheer Camp for children ages 5-13 on January 12, 2019

in the FCHS Back Foyer from 10am to 3pm.

Cost per participant is $45 per child, $20 per sibling.

Coaches/Chaperones:  Jessicah Laffety and Amanda Crouch

This is a fundraiser for FCHS Cheer and proceeds will go toward purchasing uniforms for the team.
