Franklin County Public Special Called Meeting
I. Call to Order
Rationale

The mission of the Franklin County Public Schools is to prepare students for College and Career Readiness and to become contributing citizens.

II. Authorization to Request FT Emergency Certification
Rationale

Ms. Karen Kuhmer has been recommended for the LBD/PASS vacancy at Hearn Elementary School.  Ms. Kuhmer has 10 years of experience teaching special education in Florida and Georgia.  She is currently working with the Education Professional Standards Board to obtain a teaching certificate for Kentucky.  This process will take some time.

In the meantime, so that she may begin her employment and we may provide continuity of services to our students, we ask for authorization to seek full-time emergency certification for Karen Kuhmer for LBD.

Approve full-time emergency certification for Karen Kuhmer

Order #224 - Motion Passed:  Approve full-time emergency certification for Karen Kuhmer passed with a motion by Mr. William Cofield and a second by Ms. BeLinda Henson.

III. FCHS Overnight - Boys Soccer
Rationale

Franklin County High School Boys' Soccer team is requesting permission to travel to Hopkinsville, KY for a soccer tournament to be held on September 10-11.  The team would depart on the 10th and return on the 11th.  Funding for the trip, including transportation and the driver's costs will be funded by the Boys' Soccer Booster club.  The team will be staying overnight on the 10th and will be residing at the Comfort Suites in Hopkinsville.  The team will be accompanied by the coaches.

The Board would also have to grant a waiver to Board Policy 09.36, which limits travel to a 75 mile radius on weekends.

Recommended Motion

Approve the overnight travel for the FCHS Boys Soccer team and waive the travel restrictions as defined by Board Policy 09.36
