7.F.b. Increase Contract Days for Middle School Agriculture Teacher
Rationale

Bondurant Middle School SBDM allocated a certified position for an agriculture teaching position.  Part of their rationale for creating this position was to ease the transition between middle and high school, hence the middle school teacher would involve his students with the work of the high school teachers and their students.  Much of the work of the agriculture teachers with their students occurs during the summer, on weekends, etc.  Kentucky state statures mandate high school teachers be contracted for 240 days.  There are no mandated number of days for a middle school agriculture teacher.  Mr. Sparrow is recommending the middle school agriculture teaching position be increased by 15 days for a total of 202 days to provide a quality middle school agriculture program and to provide the needed time for the middle school and high school programs to work jointly.  Funds for the increase days would be paid from general funds.
