3.B. Approve 2016-2017 Tentative Budget
Rationale

Annually each local board of education is required to approve a tentative budget on or before May 30.  The purpose of this law is to assure that the local Board of Education has an opportunity to review all proposed revenues and expenditures before the next school year begins.

This is the second formal step in developing the 2016-2017 annual working budget.  The first step was completed at the January mid-Month meeting when a draft budget was presented for your review.  No formal action was required by the Board for the draft budget.  The tentative budget involves a more detailed presentation of the proposed 2016-2017 budget and involves formal action by the Board to adopt the budget with such changes as deemed appropriate.  The final step will occur in the fall, after the close of the current fiscal year.  This will be the working budget for 2016-2017 and will include additional information related to the certification of the value of taxable property and second month average daily attendance.

Attached are two quotes requiring approval which are needed to enhance the technology within the district.

Integratiopartners - $105,000 - This will provide the support needed to complete the transition of centralizing the district technology core at our current location.  Additionally, this quote includes needed upgrades at FCHS, WHHS, EMS, BMS, and CTC.  This will allow for a more resilient network design among schools and central office.  Once installed, this will drastically reduce the possibility of a school losing internet/connectivity.

Avaya - $319,598.60 - The attached quote is the next step in the district's erate wireless project for our elementary schools.  It is anticipated approximately 80% of the cost will be returned to the district next year via the erate return.
