Students will be engaged in Life Science and Physical Science activities that reinforce several NGSS standards (4-PS3-1;4-PS3-4;4-LS1-1;4-LS1-2). Students will also be engaging in community building activities and learning social skills for a camp setting.

6.C.b. EES Fourth Grade Overnight to 4H Camp
Rationale

Elkhorn Elementary is requesting permission for an overnight trip for our 4th grade students to go to the 4-H Camp in Carlisle, KY.  This trip will provide students activities and experiences that align with Next Generation Science Standards as well as some Social Studies content.  Funding will be provided for those unable to pay through a variety of sources, such as FRYSC funds, school activity funds, and donations/scholarships.  For an overnight trip, this is very affordable and potentially the only such experience that some of our students will be allowed.  The overall cost per child may be reduced, depending on fundraising efforts.  Regardless of fundraising, the approximate maximum cost of the trip will be within a few dollars of $45 per child.

Transportation will be provided by Franklin County transportation.  Teachers, principal, and approved parents will serve as chaperones for the approximately 70 students.
