3. American Association for State and Local History Award of Merit
Rationale

This national award was presented to the Kentucky Historical Society and Bridgeport Elementary for the program History smArt.  Bridgeport was the only Kentucky school to receive the award because they helped develop and pilot the program. The Leadership in History Award of Merit is given by the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). Below you will find an explanation of the award. 

 

The Award of Merit is presented to recognize excellence for projects (including civic engagement, special projects, educational programs, exhibits, publications, etc.), and individual achievement. AASLH bestows Leadership in History Awards to establish and encourage standards of excellence in the collection, preservation, and interpretation of state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans. By publicly recognizing superior and innovative achievements, the Leadership in History Awards serve as an inspiration to others in the field. -

5. 2015 Kindergarten Readiness Data
Rationale

Jen Patrick, District Assessment Coordinator, will share the results of the kindergarten readiness assessment administered to incoming kindergartners in August 2015.  This is the third year the kindergarten readiness assessment was administered.

6. New Business
6.A. Approve Comprehensive District Improvement Plan (CDIP) 2015-2016
Rationale

The Franklin County Public Schools CDIP must be approved annually. The CDIP includes goals, strategies, and activities which address the recent district state assessment results.  Mr. Masters facilitated the process and sought input and feedback from various stakeholders in regards to the proposed plan.  A short review of the CDIP will be provided.

6.D. Approve Contract with Linda Nickel
Rationale

I am requesting the approval for a six-day contract with Linda Nickel.  Mrs. Nickel will be reviewing, analyzing, and developing strategies in regards to the instruction, assessment, discipline, and the routine practices and procedures at Hearn Elementary School.  Funds for the six days will be paid from general fund, and Mrs. Nickel will be paid her daily wage threshold.

6.E. Approve Donation from Commonwealth Credit Union
Rationale

The Commonwealth Credit Union is partnering with Western Hills High School to provide funding to install a new school marquee.  The marquee will be provided by Stewart Signs and paid through a donation from CCU.  The sign would have a small CCU's logo at the bottom with a larger Western Hills Logo. The current sign has served the school for more than 12 years and needs to be replaced.  Upon approval by the Board, Commonwealth Credit Union will donate $8,062.00, which will fund the marquee and installation.
