Bridgeport Odyssey of the Mind team competed at the state tournament Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Union, Kentucky. The team placed first in their division and will be advancing to Worlds!!

Public Comments
The Franklin County Board of Education has provided time in its agenda for individuals to make comments. Comments to the Board will be allowed up to a maximum of three (3) minutes. The Board does not allow comments on any matter dealing with personnel issues. Kentucky law states specifically that personnel matters are the responsibility of the Superintendent. On all personnel matters, you should contact the Superintendent of Schools. No questions, comments, or decisions/action related to public comments will be made by Board members at this time, unless the specific topic is on the agenda; however, the Board will listen to the comments and/or suggestions which may lead to a discussion of same at a future meeting. If an individual wishes for the Board to discuss and/or take action on a particular issue, they must follow the procedures outlined in Franklin County Board of Education Policy 10.2. The Superintendent or the designee will be able to assist in this request.

Contract Bluegrass.org, Franklin County Comp Care
For the past six years we have been providing space for therapists employed by Comprehensive Care to meet with their clients at school. According to the principals, students have benefited from in-school therapy so we want to continue this collaborative arrangement.
VII.C.2.
Contract Bluegrass.org, Mental Health Consultants
Contract with Bluegrass Regional Health-Mental Retardation Board, Inc. to provide mental health consultation services.

Contract Rachel Morgan, Sign Language Interpreter
I am requesting for the attached contract to be approved between the Franklin County Board of Education and Rachel Morgan. This contract will allow us to request Sign Language interpreting services.

Contract Insight Psychological, Paul Ebben
According to State and Federal guidelines, parents have the option of requesting an independent evaluation at no cost to them if they disagree with our evaluation. This contract will allow us to meet State and Federal guidelines. The funding for this service will come from IDEA Part B Basic.

Contract Dana Parker, Sign Language Interpreter
I am requesting for the attached contract be approved between the Franklin County Board of Education and Dana Parker. This contract will allow us to request Sign Language interpreting services.

Contract Megan Salyer, Spanish Interpreter
It is the responsibility of the school district to provide an interpreter at Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meetings when parents do not speak English.

Contract Central Ky Interpreter Referral Swervice
We currently employ an educational interpreter and need to have a plan for providing a substitute when needed. Interpreters are extremely hard to locate; therefore, I am requesting approval of this contract.

Franklin County High School would like to contract with the Frankfort Convention Center for the 2014 prom.
The prom will be held on May 16, 2015 at a cost of $2000. The entire expense will be funded by the 2015 Senior Class.

Miller Transportation - EMS
Elkhorn Middle School is requesting approval of a contract with Miller Transportation for the eighth grade trip to Kentucky Kingdom on May 21. Funds for the trip will be provided by individual students and school activity funds.

PME - Arbordale Publishing
Debbie Gossage, media specialist at Peaks Mills Elementary, is requesting approval to accept a grant from Arbordale Publishing. The grant would provide online books to the students and families of Peaks Mill. This online availability would be through August 31, 2017.

Approval for WHHS Boy's Basketball to attend team camp at Georgetown College
The WHHS Boy's basketball coach is asking for approval for the team to attend the Team camp at Georgetown College on June 8 - 11, 2015. 15 students will be attending. The team will stay in the dorms at Georgetown college and have their meals in the college cafeteria. There will be 2 chaperones. The cost is $185 dollars per player. A volunteer has committed to pay for any player who cannot afford the $185.00. A bus will be requested separately.

Approval for the WHHS Volleyball Team to travel out of state.
The Varsity Volleyball team will travel to Coastal Caroline University to train at a summer camp.
The camp includes individual position instruction and team drills. during the trip to So. Carolina and during return, the team will stay at the Comfort Suites at the University 2480 US Hwy 501 East, Conway, SC 29526, phone number is 843-347-9292. During the camp, the team will be housed in dorms.
The date of activity is July 16 - 21, 2015.
There will be 2 chaperones. Transportation by a airline and with a hotel shuttle from the airport to the Comfort Suites. All expenses will be funded for the team by the booster club.

BPE Odessey Team Trip and Competition
BPE is requesting the FCBOE approve the OOTM team to travel out of state to Michigan to compete in the World Competition. They need to leave the am of May 20th to get there that night for the opening ceremony and will compete Thursday and Friday (May 21-22). They will attend the closing ceremony on Saturday, May 23 and then the team will return home. Travel will be provided by individual parents. Two chaperones (Ms. Lyons and Ms. Eastman) will also accompany the team.
We will need to raise approximately $600 per person-they intend to stay in the dorms (5 students, 2 coaches and a male chaperone-since we have 3 students and they are located on a different floor)=$4,800.

Approval of Summer Camps
VII.E.1.
Approval for the WHHS Percussion clinic and the full band camp.
The WHHS Band Instructor is requesting permission to host a summer camp for WHHS percussion students on July 23 - 25th and the full band on July 26 - 31st on the school grounds. Instructors will provide instruction to small groups. Music, drill and marching fundamentals are taught during the week. Percussion clinic will be specifically for the drumline students and will have instructors in the percussion area (Mr. Jeff Horton).
The rest of bank camp (July 26-31) will be for all students involved in band for the 2015-2016 school year.
The cost of the camp is $175.00 ($100 for reduced lunch and free for free lunch).

Approval of the WHHS Boys Summer Basketball Camp
The WHHS Boys Basketball coach is requesting permission to host a summer camp for children of the community on June 15 - 17th on the school grounds. They basketball players and coaches (4) will act as the chaperones and parents will provide transportation. The cost of the camp is $40.00.

Approval of WHHS Dance Team Summer Camp
The WHHS dance coach and boosters are requesting permission to host a summer camp for children of the community on July 20-24, 2015 on the school grounds. They will have 1 coach plus booster club members, parents will provide transportation. The cost of the camp is $75.00. The cost includes 4-days of instruction, t-shirt, camp photo, and daily snacks.

Approve WHHS Boys Soccer Summer Camp
the Boys Soccer coach and boosters are requesting permission to host a summer camp for children of the community on June 8 - 12 on the school grounds. They will have 4 chaperones, parents will provide transportation. The cost of the camp is $65.00.

VII.F.1.
Creation of Assistant Academic Coach Positions
Hearn Elementary School SDBM would like to request the creation of 3 assistant academic coach positions to be paid from the Hearn Elementary School ASP fund. These positions would be for the 2014-2015 school year only. Each assistant would be paid $150.00 for a total of $450.00.

VII.G.1.
Kentucky ASAP application for funding
Bondurant Middle School is submitting grant application for Red Ribbon Week Oct. 2015 for board approval. Grant is requesting 750.00 from the Agency of Substance Abuse Program. The grant will cover cost for red ribbons, speaker, and miscellanous items needed that week.
VII.G.2.
Approval of KY - ASAP Franklin County Local Board Application for Funding
Western Hills High School is requesting approval to submit an application for funding of the Western Hills High School Red Ribbon Week October 2015. Betty Lawson, Student Support Center contact person, is requesting permission to apply for funding from the KY - ASSP Franklin County Local Board. The purpose and objective of the program is to bring awareness and education to all students regarding the danger that drugs, alcohol and tobacco pose.
VII.H.
Community Education Grant
To continue the Community Education grant for the 2015-2016 school, the statement of assurances and budget need to be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education. As part of the agreement, the district must commit to provide $5000 in matching funds, which the district provides well-beyond the required amount. All of the $20,000 state funding is utilized for salary of the Director.

Kentucky high schools are mandated to submit annual Title IX reports. Attached are the 2015 reports from Franklin County High School and Western Hills High School for your approval.
