Approval of SREB MOA to Sustain the Kentucky Middle Grades Schools of Innovation (KMGSI)
For the past three years Bondurant Middle School and Elkhorn Middle School were members of the Kentucky Middle Grades Schools of Innovation (KMGSI), where both schools participated and embedded professional development training involving the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) and the Mathematics Design Collaborative (MDC). Both initiatives are aligned to the Common Core Standards, and have been embraced and implemented by the faculty of both middle schools.
For the 2014-2015 school year, the Kentucky Department of Education has provided funding for both Bondurant and Elkhorn to participate in KMGSI Sustaining Schools. This opportunity affords the faculties of both middle schools the support to ensure the continuation of the implementation and refinement of the LDC and MDC models. The only cost to the district would be for substitute pay, which will be provided via professional development and Title II funds.
The MOA will be for the 2014-2015 school year.
