Call to Order
The mission of the Franklin County Public Schools is to educate students in a community-involved learning environment that ensures all students will achieve their greatest individual potential in order to succeed in a global society.
II.
Award Bid for New Elementary School
On May 17, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., bids for the New Elementary School to be built off of US 421 were opened in the Board Room of the Central Office. Five contractors submitted bids:
Parco Construction $12,596,000
Alliance Corporation 11,413,600
David Construction 12,306,700
Isaac Tatum Construction 11,425,000
Griggs Enterprises 11,907,000
The lowest bid from Alliance is well within our bonding capacity and is roughly $168.21 a sq. ft. We had estimated bids might come in slightly higher.
That the Board award the bid for the New Elementary School to Alliance Corporation at a cost of $11,413,600
Motion Passed: That the Board award the bid for the New Elementary School to Alliance Corporation at a cost of $11,413,600 passed with a motion by Mr. William Cofield and a second by Tim Metzger.
III.
Approve Amended BG-1 (Project Application) for New Elementary School
Now that the actual construction cost of $11,413,600 has been affirmed, it is necessary to amend our original project application to reflect real numbers instead of estimates.
Attached is the revised BG-1 for this project.

Motion Passed: That the Board approve the attached BG-1 for the New Elementary School passed with a motion by Mr. William Cofield and a second by Tim Metzger.

Report from Bridgeport Elementary
Principal Martha Lail will present a report on Bridgeport Elementary.

The next meeting of the Franklin County Board of Education will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Central Office.
