I. Call to Order
Rationale

II. Report from Elkhorn Middle School
Rationale

Mr. Willie Bartley, principal, will present a report on Elkhorn Middle School.

III. Presentation by Kathleen Campbell
Rationale

Ms. Campbell will update the Board on her work/initiatives as the FCPS Dropout/Volunteer Coordinator. 

IV. Review of the 2014 Comprehensive District Improvement Plan(CDIP) Progress
Rationale

An update of the 2014 Comprehensive District Improvement Plan will be presented by Greg Roush (goals 3,  4, and 6).  The Progress Notes begin on page 27 of the attachment.

V. Review of Revenue and Expense Trend Data
Rationale

Review of Revenue trend data for Franklin County Public Schools.  Ms. Jones will lead the board in the review of the expenses of the presentation.  The information contained in the presentation will be continued at the April 21 Board meeting.

VI. Approve Proposed Staffing Allocation Modifications to School Councils
Rationale

The proposed staffing allocation formula for 2013-2014 meets statutory (KRS 157.360(4)(a)) and regulatory (702 KAR 3:246) compliance.

VII.A. Approve Travel
VII.A.1. WHHS Softball Trip
Rationale


WHHS Softball team would like permission to attend an out of town Tournament in Elizabethtown on March 21 and 22. The team will stay at Best Western located at 1043 Executive Drive. FCPS transportation will be utilized but all costs incurred will be paid by softball boosters including lodging, food, transportation costs.

VII.A.2. WRE overnight fieldtrip
Rationale

Westridge Elementary requests permission for the 4th grade to attend a 4H overnight field trip on April 7 and 8th.  This field trip provides hands on learning of the Life Science 4th grade Science standards. Students will  be responsible for the cost of the trip.

VII.A.3. WHHS Overnight Softball Trip
Rationale

WHHS Softball team would like permission to attend an out of town tournament in Owensboro on April 2 - 4.  The team will stay at Fairfield Inn located at 800 Salee Drive. FCPS transportation will be utilized but all costs incurred will be paid by softball boosters including lodging, food, transportation costs. Team coaches will be chaperones along with some parents.



VII.B. Approve Contracts
VII.B.1. contract services with Andy Bass
Rationale

The Academy is the recipient of a $5000 grant from KECSAC for substance abuse treatment for our students.
We wish to contract with Andy Bass, a local therapist to provide these services at a rate of $60/hour, up to $5,000.

VII.C. Approve Positions
VII.C.1. Booster Paid Asst. Soccer Coach
Rationale

The WHHS Soccer Boosters would like to create an assistant coach to be paid by the board booster account in the amount of $500.

VII.C.2. Booster Paid Asst. WHHS Track Coach
Rationale

The WHHS Cross Country Boosters would like to create an assistant coach for 2013-2014 to be paid by the board booster account in the amount of $800.

VII.C.3. WHHS adjustment to contracted hours of Learning Center Staff
Rationale

The WHHS Learning Center needs to add contracted days to the positions in our Learning Center. The Assistant Child Care Director position needs to be contracted  for 187 days (this adds 1 day to her existing contract) with the Child Care Teacher/Aide position being contracted for 189 days (this adds 9 days to her existing contact).

These days are utilized for training, staff days, student days, opening and closing, and benefits (holidays). These days were previously budgeted and are paid by student tuition.

VII.D. Approve Use of Buses by KSU
Rationale

T'Ebony Torain, Director of Upward Bound and GO College at KSU, requested the use of Franklin County Public Schools bus transportation on Friday, April 4 to Asbury College and the University of Kentucky's Agriculture Department.  Several Franklin County Students participate in this federally-funded program designed to prepare student for post secondary education.  Since the majority of the participating students attend Franklin County Schools, it is requested the district incur the cost of the transportation.

Approval to utilize FCPS transportation on April 4 for the Upward Bound and GO College program
