IV. Approve ASP Handbook
Rationale

At the October 14 Board Meeting the Board requested the handbook be brought back to October 21 meeting.  Attached is additional information for your review.

V. Approve Funds for Education Adequacy Study
Rationale

The Council for Better Education (CBE) has proposed funding an adequacy study and has asked member districts to contribute to the anticipated cost of approximately$130,000.  It was suggested each member district contribute $0.25 per ADA.  Based on FCPS average daily attendance of 5,837, this would be a cost of $1,459.25.

Rationale

Westridge Elementary is requesting approval for an addition of a 100 day certified writing coach position for the remainder of the 2013-2014 school year.  This position will be paid for through Westridge Elementary Title 1 funds.

VI.B. Approve FCHS Chorus Overnight to Bowling Green
Rationale

Dates: 10/31/13 - 11/2/13
Purpose:  Jr. High All State Chorus Performance
Destination:  Bowling Green Sloane Convention Center / Holiday Inn Express
Number of Students:  4
Names of Chaperon:  Raye Hurley
Transportation Method:  FCPS Bus for trip to BG, individual student parents for return trip
Funding:  Students / Boosters

VI.C. Approve Vision Impaired Contract

VI.D. Approve BMS Capital Bowl Fundraiser
Rationale

Proposed Fundraiser for the BMS Library in conjunction with Capital Bowl:

Capital Bowl will sponsor Fun Packs for school holidays.  Capital Bowl will make up the packets and deliver them to Bondurant who then passes them out to every student.  All students who go to the bowling alley during the specified times will receive two games of bowling, shoe rental, a hot dog and a 10 oz. soda for $6.00.  For every student and their guests who attend and participate, the Bondurant Library will receive $1.00.

VI.E. Approve WRE PTO Campbell Soup Fundraiser
Rationale

Westridge PTO would like approval to begin the Campbell Soup label fundraiser.  It will be a continuous fundraiser that lasts the 2013-2014 school year.  The proceeds will be used to meet the goals of the 2013-14 PTO which includes providing teachers with both instructional and non-instructional needs.

VI.F. Approve WHHS Volleyball 3K Run
Rationale


The Western Hills Volleyball Team and Booster Club would like to host a 3K Zombie Fun Run/Walk for Saturday, Nov. 2. The funds made from this event will be utilized to purchase equipment and provide player supplies. This event will be open to the community and the entry fee will be $10 with an option to purchase an $8 t-shirt.

The route will start at Bondurant Middle School and wind through the Western Hills parking lot ending at the stadium (see attached picture).

The parade license fee of $25 will be paid by this group as well as the additional ($100) liability insurance that is required and officers to assist the event.  (See the formal letter of request-attached).

This event will be of no cost to the district.

(1)(c) Discussions of proposed or pending litigation against or on behalf of the public agency;

Action may be necessary following the closed session.
