Pursuant to EIS Board Policy 01.45 Board Meeting Agenda, as part of the official agenda for each regular board meeting, the Superintendent shall prepare a consent agenda of routine business items.  Prior to the approval of the agenda, the members of the board may request to "pull" any item from the consent agenda and place the item on the action agenda for further discussion and review.

IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                              DONOVAN ADAMS

The EHS student of the month for December is Donovan Adams.  Donovan is an exceptional, young man and student athlete who has held a 4.0 GPA his entire high school career. Donovan ranks 8th out of his senior class of 159 students. Donovan describes himself as ambitious, friendly and curious. He is a four-year member of the Varsity Soccer team, four-year member of the Track team, four-year member of Beta Club, 3-year member of Student Council, two-year member of Spanish Club, and one-year member of FBLA. Donovan enjoys running, swimming, going to the lake and hanging out with his friends. Some of Donovan’s honors and awards include: National Beta Quiz Bowl Champion, 3x Region Champion for Soccer, 3x District Champion for Soccer and Final Four in Soccer. Donovan plans on attending the University of Kentucky to study Mechanical Engineering.

Here are some comments from her teachers and coach:

Mr. Yates (Soccer Coach): “Donovan has been a staple to our boys soccer program the last several years. He dedicates himself to any discipline he is involved in, and is a very intelligent, charismatic, and hardworking young man. Everything that exemplifies EIS, Donovan stands for. I am so very proud of him and how he has utilized his talents in the classroom and the soccer field. Congratulations on being named student of the month!”

Mr. Todd (Personal Finance): “Donovan is a great young man.  He is very personable and participates often in class.   He is very deserving  of student of the month.”

Ms. Bixenman (History & App. Of the Arts): “Donovan continuously delivers exemplary work and always has a positive attitude in my class. He is hardworking, focused, and detail oriented. More so, he exhibits kindness, respect, and courtesy toward his teachers and classmates. All of these attributes make Donovan more than deserving of being Student of the Month.”

Mrs. Lively (AP Physics): “Donovan is an excellent student. He works hard and regularly challenges himself by taking high level classes. He is smart, and quickly understands everything we discuss in AP Physics. Donovan is an asset to the AP Physics class, and I can count on him to work with other students to help them grasp difficult physics topics.”

Mrs. Mills (Mechanical Engineering): “Donovan is an exemplary student.  I have had the pleasure of being his Engineering teacher for 2 years now.  He excels in the classroom and is a positive role model to his classmates.  I know that if I ask Donovan to help someone he will be open to helping and will do it in a very positive way. I am so happy that he is the December student of the month.  It is a well deserved award to an outstanding young man.  Congratulations Donovan!!! I am so proud of you!!!”

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                  LINCOLN SHIRTS

Lincoln Shirts is TK’s December Student of the Month.  Lincoln is a straight A student whose favorite subject is social studies.  He plays baseball and football, during the off season he’s active in clubs.  Lincoln participates in the academic team, student council, and he’s president of Beta Club.  He also participates in a Wednesday night youth group at his church.

Mr. Pearman – Lincoln is respectful, hardworking young  man.  I appreciate the efforts he exhibits in class.  If he continues on his current path, he will be a productive citizen that any community would want to have.

Congratulation on this honor, Lincoln.

Mrs. Johnson – Lincoln is an absolute joy to have in class everyday.  I want to first point out his attitude.  I can never tell if he is having a bad say; he is always respectful, kins, and helpful.  Academically, he is outstanding.  His determination and work ethic are impressive and he is an incredible role model for those around him.  I look forward to seeing how he impacts his community in the future!  Congratulation on this much deserved honor.

Mr. Lutz – Lincoln is a great student and excels in algebra 1.  He works hard, has a great attitude, and consistently works to grow his math skills.  Lincoln is a great representative of TKS Stone and the Etown Independent School district.

 

Lincoln is excited about getting up to EHS to take challenging classes.  He thinks it’s cool to be able to choose his own academic path.  He’s interested in attending BYU and possibly majoring in business, finance, or computer science.  Congraulations to Lincoln Shirts, TKS’s December Student of the Month. 

 

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY                ISABELLA NAPIER

Isabella Napier is a third grade student in Mrs. Watts’ class, but she is not just an ordinary student.  Isabella exemplifies what it means to have Panther Pride and her class is very proud she was chose as the student of the month.  He are a few insights they wanted to share about her character.

Isabella is considerate of others.  She is kind and willing to help others solve their problems.  Isabella is also good-hearted.  She will always lend a hand when you need one and is willing to listen to see if she can help.  When playing games, Isabella is fair and invites all to participate.  She always tries to make everyone feel like they belong.

Isabella has a friendly personality.  She is always smiling and has a warm greeting to others in the morning.  Isabella had a great sense of humor too.  She often tells jokes to make people laugh, but only when it is appropriate.  Isabella makes good choices and encourages others to make good choices, as well.

Isabells is a hard worker.  She is patient and pays attention in class. Isabella is enthusiastic when learning new content and makes reading a joy when you partner with her.  When things are difficult, however, she never gives up.  Isabella shows resilience by trying hard each day and always doing her best.

            As a teacher, Mrs. Watts agrees with her students as to Isabella’s excellent character.  She feels Isabella is a role model for other students by putting forth a positive attitude everyday and always following the Guidelines for Success.  Mrs. Watts says, “Isabella demonstrates perseverance and is a respectful young lady.  She makes learning fun for herself and others.  Isabella’s “never give up” attitude and infectious love of learning makes the classroom a wonderful place to be.  I feel very blessed to have Isabella as a member of our classroom.”

Isabella is 9 years old.  She lives with her two brothers, two sisters, and grandmother.  Isabella enjoys many activities such as playing card games, coloring and playing pretend teacher.  Her favorite place to visit is Florida.  She has a pet cat named Possum and a dog named Biscuit, as well as, countless fish!

We want to thank and congratulate Isabella for being such a great role model for the students and staff at Helmwood heights Elementary School.

 

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL                        AUTUMN POLLOCK

Autumn Pollock was chosen as our Student of the Month for many reasons, seen both inside and outside of the classroom.  Autumn is a hard working student who loves to learn and be challenged.  Students like this are so fun to teach and she is no different!  Autumn strives to do her best at every task that she is given and always provides high quality work in all of her classes.  All of her teachers recognize Autumn’s persistence and will to succeed.  Autumn takes pride in her school work, but also in her character.  She is always respectful to her teachers and goes out of her way to make those around her feel special.  Autumn is always willing to lend a helping hand and includes everyone during cooperative learning work and on the playground.  Other students gravitate towards Autumn because of her inclusive kindness and warm personality.  Autumn is a leader in many ways and is a great example of Morningside’s Guidelines for Success to be respectful, responsible and cooperative.  She demonstrates these qualities day in and day out.  We are proud to recognize Autumn Pollock as Morningside Elementary’s December Student of the Month.

PANTHER ACADEMY                     ADALYN JACKSON

Adalyn Jackson is our Student of the month.  Adalyn is such a sweet, kind and hardworking student.  Adalyn always greets her teachers and friends each morning with a smile in morning meeting.  Adalyn wants and chooses to be friends with everyone!  Adalyn is polite and treats her friends with respect.

Not only is Adalyn such a sweet and kind student!  Adalyn is also always eager to learn!  She is always on task and tries her best on any activity given.  She actively participates in class and tries her best!  I can always count on Adalyn to do the right thing whether I am watching or not   It has been a true pleasure to have Adalyn in my class, and I am more than proud to have her as our Student of the Month!
